ECD Consultant – Based in Kathmandu

Planète Enfants (PE) is a non religious, non political NGO based in France that has been fighting against Trafficking in Person (TIP) in Nepal since 1997. We are seeking for a qualified and dynamic Nepali national to join Planete Enfants Nepal office in Kathmandu for the position of ECD Consultant. The Consultant will be hired for a period of three months every year up to the project period.

Background: Planete Enfants is going to launch a project “Better Future for Mothers and Children (BFMC)” in Kathmandu and Dhading districts. One of the major components of this project is to operate ECD centre in Kathmandu to ensure the protection and full development of children of girls and women working in the entertainment sectors (dance bars, massage parlours, etc.) Simultaneously,equal focus will be given to strengthen the ECD centres running in Dhading and Kathmandu in public schools. The main purpose of this position is to provide the technical support to carry out ECD component of this project in an effective and efficient way.

Main responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the ProgramDirector, the ECD Consultant will focus on (but not only):

  • Prepare the standard guideline for the ECD centre.
  • Develop the detail curriculum, operational plan and daily routines.
  • Support to set up the ECD centre in child friendly manner.
  • Develop the tailor made training packages for the project team, ECD facilitators and train accordingly.
  • Support to coordinate with likeminded organisations and authorities.
  • Develop the monitoring / assessment strategy, plan and tools
  • Train / orient the project team regarding the proper utilisation of these guidelines /tools; assist them for effective implementation.

Candidate’s profile:

  • Minimum of Master’s Degree in Education / pedagogy or equivalent. Preference will be given for the candidate having specialization on Early Childhood Development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant area.
  • Sound Knowledge onchild development and pedagogical psychology.
  • Basic knowledge of Child Rights, Women rights, Child protection issues, etc.
  • Fluent English and Nepali (spoken and written)

The candidate should be dynamic, self-motivated and result-oriented. The position also requires strong analytical, management and leadership skills. The candidate should be an active learner and eager to take up new challenges being able to demonstrate strong personal values and ethics are essential.
