TRACETEK 3100C SUGGESTED SPECIFICATION
For Chemical and/or Water
Detection for Aqueous Fluids
Part 1 - General
1.1Furnish a complete system, including electronic alarm, aqueous fluid sensing cable, and auxiliary equipment. When aqueous fluids are detected, the double-contained piping, sump, and/or tank, the system will light an LED on the control module and engage a NO/NC relay. No more than 2" of wetted cable shall be required to sound an alarm. The system shall provide connectorized sensing cable and components. The system shall be UL Listed under Process Management Equipment and tested to Standard 864, FM approved, and CSA approved and tested to Third Party Procedures developed according to the U.S. EPA’s “Standard Test Procedures for Evaluating Leak Detection Methods: Liquid Phase Out of Tank Product Detectors.” The system manufacturer shall have at least five years of experience with chemical leak detection sensor technology.
1.2 The system shall be Model TT3100C system as distributed by G. A. Fleet Associates, Inc., 55 Calvert Street, Harrison, NY 10528.
Part 2 - Products
2.1The alarm module shall be capable of continuously monitoring a single sensing cable channel for aqueous chemical or water leak events. The module shall also monitor the entire system including interconnecting cables for circuit continuity in a fully supervised 4-wire configuration. A break in any sensing cable or any interconnecting cable shall result in an audible alarm, a lighted "continuity" LED on the face of the module, and actuation of a continuity-specific output relay. The alarm module shall be connected to connectorized sensing cable and components.
2.2The sensing cable shall consist of a four-wires: two sensor wires, a continuity wire, and an insulated return wire. The sensor wires shall be jacketed by a conductive polymer. The cable insulation shall be made from fluoropolymer materials such that no metallic parts are exposed to the environment. The cable shall be resistant to acids, bases and most solvents in accordance with ASTM D-543 and carry a 0 to 14 pH rating at 220 degrees F rating from the manufacturer.
2.3A jumper cable shall be available to interconnect both water and fuel cables. The jumper cable shall be tray cable rated for 600v, direct burial 90°C, UV stabilized, and consisting of 4 conductors colored red, green, yellow, and black.
Part 3 - Execution
3.1General: All TraceTek system components shall be installed in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions. The installer shall be responsible for providing a clean and functional system. Supervision and training shall be available from a TraceTek distributor or other personnel authorized by the TraceTek Group. The TraceTek system shall be commissioned upon completion of the installation by personnel authorized by the TraceTek Group in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
3.3Upon completion of the system installation, a factory connectorized, five-foot long sensing cable shall be temporarily installed at the far end of each leak detection circuit. The chemical/water sensor shall be immersed in approximately one foot of water at a depth of one-eight inch to confirm that an alarm is generated. The installer shall perform and certify the tests in the presence of the owner’s representative.
3.4Upon completion of the test and removal of the temporary test sections, the system shall be purged with -20 degrees F point air or dry nitrogen to displace the ambient air. The piping containment system shall be sealed upon completion of the purge.
