Position Title: PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER II (POLICE)
Department: Airport Public Safety
Classification:Hourly
Start Rate:$12.00 - $15.00
Reports to: Deputy Chief
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Deputy Chief, Public Safety Officer II (PSO II) are responsible for the safety of people and property at the Florence Regional Airport. PSO II’s provide and enforce applicable federal, state and local laws to include Airport Rules and Regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
- High School Diploma
- Valid South Carolina Driver’s License with good driving record
- SC Criminal Justice Academy (SCCJA) Class 1 Law Enforcement Certification
- Emergency Vehicle Driver Training Course (Preferred)
- Must become Airfield Certified within 90-days of hire (Required)
- Must pass a Psychological Evaluation
- Must pass a Pre-employment Drug Screen
- Pre-Employment Background Check Required
- Pre-Employment Physical Fitness Test Required
- Other test and training certifications required post-employment
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Enforce all federal, state, local laws
- Patrol and Monitor all airport property
- Provide passenger screening checkpoint support services
- Respond to request for police assistance by airport personnel, tenants, passengers and general public
- Intervene in disturbances or disputes using tact, discretion and good judgement for a peaceful, legal resolution
- Make arrest and/or issue citations
- Prepare and maintain proper record keeping documentation, reports, and forms as required by the position and departmental policies and procedures
- Perform other position related duties as required
- Remain on-call for after hour emergencies
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Able to perform law enforcement duties to include the potential for intense physical demands involving violent acts/struggles needed to restrain/control individuals.
- Operate law enforcement equipment to include vehicles, weapons, radios, computing equipment, personal protective equipment
