Build-A-MyPlate-Meal:
Turkey Sandwich & Grapes
The MyPlate picture shows us how much of each food group to include in each meal. Each food group may be eaten separately (just like it is shown on the MyPlate picture), or foods from each can be combined together. This build-a-sandwich meal is a good example of how to combine foods to create a balanced MyPlate meal. Any veggies that you like can be added to this sandwich, and you can pick your favorite fruit to go on the side. Yum Yum!
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Serving Size: 1-2 servings
Ingredients:
½ tablespoon mayonnaise
1 teaspoon mustard
2 slices whole wheat/whole grain bread
2-3 ounces (2-3 slices) sliced turkey breast
1½ ounce (1 slice) part-skim mozzarella cheese
2 slices of tomato
2-3 slices orange bell pepper
1 lettuce leaf
4 Pickle slices
1 small bunch Red grapes
Spread mayonnaise and mustard onto 1 slice of bread. Layer your sandwich ingredients on top of the bread slice. Place the other piece of bread on top and enjoy with a side of grapes (or another favorite fruit)!
