THE 17th SOUTH AFRICAN MILLION DOLLAR PIGEON RACE

RESULTS FOR TRAINING FLIGHT 9 & CAR RACE HOT SPOT 3.

TRAINING FLIGHT 9 took place on Wednesday 12th December 2012 from 78km (48 miles) and the basketing list on the official web site showed a total of3,330 pigeons were basketed and this total was made up by 2,974 International, which included 310 United Kingdom and 43 Irish pigeons plus 356 from South Africa.

The convoy were liberated at 07.15 in cloudy and cool conditions, lighthead wind, with temperature of 19c (66f) and a good race was expected.

The OPEN result was as follows and CONGRATULATIONS goes to Dr Laszio Gotthard from Hungary who took 1st Open with pigeon namedDelphiniawhich was clocked at 08.19.51.65 to record a velocity of 1320ypm (45mph), this pigeon has already won 61st, 118th, 262nd, 46th, 47tgh and now 1st Open,2nd just00.44 seconds later Henrik Meldgaard from Denmark, this pigeon has already won 40th,9th,26th and now 2nd Open, 3rdTeam Esser – Klaas from Germany, another pigeon that is flying well and already won 24th, 15th, 12th and now 3rd Open, 4thBredenhand and Viljoen from South Africa,5thTeam Eagle Eye from Germany,6th Thomas Kornelius from Germany,7thFahad J Alazmi from Kuwait,

19th UK, 181st Open for Manchester Maestros with pigeon bred by Crehan & O’Connor from Salford whose team of pigeons flew an exceptionally well during the 2011/12 race series and actually had a pigeon named Plutology one of the best pigeons ever to fly in the 16 year history of this great race.A total of 307UK pigeons were officially recorded on the day, leaving 3still to return to base camp.

CONGRATULATIONS for winning 1st Ireland, 72ndOpen went to Jos Reilly – Team Ireland with pigeon named Jos 13 which was clocked at 08.21.42.40 just 1 minute 50.75 seconds behind the race winner, 2ndIreland, 99th Open Paul Poole and Son, 3rd Ireland,177th Open Hennie + Anette Kallmeyer,4th Ireland,295th Open Moran + Bowden, 5thIreland,361st Open Philip + Mark Smith and 6th Ireland, 424th Open Mousies Dream Team. A total of 42Irish pigeons were recorded on the day, leaving just 1 pigeons to return to the lofts.

THE OVERALL GRAND AVERAGES WHICH OFFERS A US$10,000 (£6,500), US$5,000 (£3,250) and US$2,500 (£1,625) CASH PRIZESin this category results after 11 official races currently stands as follows:- 1st Mershed Jedova Alnamlan from Kuwait with his pigeon named M J 1 with a combined flying time of 13.16.38.58.It should be mentioned that fanciers from Kuwait currently hold the first two positions in this category.The first UK pigeon holds 8thOpen and is owned by Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe with his pigeon named Obi See You with a combined flying time of 13.46.23.64. There are 3 UK pigeons in the top 27 in this category. The first Irish pigeon holds 87th Open and is owned by Moran + Bowden with their pigeon named Tiny Tegan with a combined flying time of 14.27.31.18.

CASCADE CHALLENGE had 68 entries for Training Flight 9 and this included 10 pigeons from the UK and just 2 from Ireland. The “POT OF GOLD” of US$2,748 (£1,832)

was not won and this sum will be carried over to CAR RACE HOT SPOT 3, the nearest pigeon won 16th Open for Racing Team Illusion from Germany with their pigeon named Syly Sturmfalke. The best UK pigeon took 272nd Open for Harbro Rowdies, administer by Ken Chapman from Leicester and with their pigeon named Abbykins bred by Adrian Duggins.The best Irish pigeon took 424th Open for Mousies Dream Team with pigeon named The Deise Rocket.

GLOBAL NOMINATIONS for this race amounted to US$3,235.10c(£2,157) and had a total of 146 pigeons entered and this included 17 UK and3 Irish pigeons, with as total of 448 nominations. Only one UK winner and that was Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe with his pigeon named Obi See You which won US$471.75c (£315) for its efforts. CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS FANCIER WHO HAS ALREADY WON NUMEROUS NOMINATIONS IN THIS RACE SERIES.

CAR RACE HOT SPOT 3 took place on Saturday 15th December 2012 from 233km (145 miles)and the basketing list on the official web site showed a total of3,338 pigeons being basketed andthis total included 2,982 International, which included 310 United Kingdom and 45 Irish pigeons, plus 356 South African pigeons.

The convoy were liberatedat 05.30 in fine and clear conditions with a light head wind and temperature of 17c (63f) and a reasonable race was expected.

The OPEN result was as follows and CONGRATULATIONS goes to Jan Hooymans – Hu Zhen Yu from Netherlands who took 1st Open with their pigeon named Puch which was officially clocked at08.34.36.93to record a winning velocity of1380ypm (47mph), this pigeon had won 56th, 47th and now 1st Open in its last 3 races, 2ndTomasz Jopek from Poland,3rdLas Vladimir and Juraj from Slovakia,4th Team Betrlich from Germany,5th, 6th & 7th Koopman Racing Team from Netherlands, a fantastic achievement to get three pigeons arrive in the winning pack against such strong competition,8thMohammed Marzouq Al-Alwan from Kuwait, with his super pigeon named Al Alwan 3 which has already won 21st, 2nd, 63rd, 59th, 33rd, 48th, 5th, 136th and now 8th Open, what a great pigeon, 9thFrank Reidegeld from Germany,10th Jan Hooymans – Hu Zhen YU from Germany with their second arrival,11th Club Stellenberg Klub from South Africa,12thFahad Mubarak Al-Watry from Kuwait,13th Heinz Axer from Germany,14thMoran + Bowden from Ireland,15thAl Aljuwaisri from Kuwait,16thFahad J Alazmi from Kuwait,17thKarl Newill from Germany,18thN+A Evans and Cuthbert from United Kingdom,19thAlois Radecker from Germanyand 20thFlojo Team from Netherlands. The time gap between the first 20 pigeons was just 15.15 seconds and a total of 8 different countries were represented in this result.A total of3,218pigeons were clocked on the day up to 18.50, leaving 120still to make it back to the lofts. A few more pigeons may have made it back on the day but a tremendous thunderstorm where the lofts are situated happened and 17.25 and unfortunately shut out the latecomers. Another 40 worked back on Sunday, leaving just 80 missing.The next listing on the official web site on Tuesday showed a total of 3,303 in the lofts which meant that just 27 pigeons were missing from this Car Race Hot Spot 3.

***BRAND NEW MOTOR CAR WINNER IN CAR RACE HOT SPOT 3 was won by pigeon named Puch which won 1st Open for Jan Hooymans – Hu Zhen Yu from Netherlands.AN EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR THESE FANCIERS. CONGRATULATIONS ON THIS SUPERB PERFORMANCE. This is the second Brand New Motor Car that the Netherland Team have won in this 2012/13 race series.

***TWENTY US$1,000 (£650) CASH PRIZES IN CAR RACE HOT SPOT 3 were all won in this race by the top 20 pigeons that were clocked in this event and all the names of the winning entrants are mentioned above in the Open result. WELL DONE TO ALL CONCERNED.

***TWO PIGEON CHALLENGE OFFERS A US$2,000 (£1,300) CASH PRIZE was won by Koopman Racing Team (Team H) from Netherlands with his two pigeons named Top Shiner and Powder Blue. The best UK Team was 48th Open for Mark Gilbert (Team D) from Windsor with Southfield Pat and Southfield Tubby. There were 11 UK Teams listed in the top 100.

The best Irish Team took 143rd Open for O’Donnell ABU Lofts (Team A) with Tommy’s Treasure 2 and Joes Delight 2 both bred by Maurice O’Donnell.

***THE KNOCKOUT COMPETITION:- originally there was a total of 3,026 fully paid up pigeons, which was made up by 2,759 International including 279 from United Kingdom, 57 from Ireland, plus 267 from South Africa. This figure was whittled down to 1,967 pigeons and these will now compete against each other and the top 55% (1,082) pigeons will go through to Round 3 which will take place on Car Race Hot Spot 4. The figure of 1,082 pigeons was made up by 999 International including 96 from the United Kingdom, 18 from Ireland and 83 from South Africa. The first pigeon clocked from the 76 remaining pigeons in Round 5 in this category in the Final Race will walk away with a cool US$25,000 (£16,225). GOOD LUCK TO ALL CONCERNED IN THE NEXT ROUND.

***CAR RACE HOT SPOT ACE PIGEON AWARDS OFFERS A US$5,000 (£3,250) CASH PRIZE:-After 3 races the top position 1st Open is held by Ali Aljuwaisri from Kuwait with his pigeon named Shurouq 2 with a combined flying time of 07.06.45.88. The best UK pigeon holds 10th Open and belongs to Pieter Oberholster from Keysoe with his good pigeon Obi See You with a combined flying time of 07.15.49.34. The best Irish pigeon holds 56th Open for Aurea Dream Team Eire with pigeon named Kelly’s Eye bred by Lloyd and Kelly from Abingdon.

Fabulous results in such strong competition.The first UK pigeon is holding 5th Open and belongs to Pieter Oberholster from Keysoewith his pigeon named Obi See Youwith a combined flying time of 16.54.21.23.This pigeon has also won quite a few top positions in the first 12 races. There are 7 UK pigeons in this top 84 in this category. The first Irish pigeon holds 70th Open and belongs to Moran + Bowden with pigeon named Big Roberto with a combined flying time of 17.45.43.66. This partnership also holds onto 87th Open with Tiny Tegan.
