Have you thought about joining the PIPA Committee?

PIPA is looking for nominations for the new Committee, which will be formed at the end of the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 14th October 2015.

The current PIPA Treasurer will be stepping down at the AGM having served the maximum timeon the Committee as allowed by the constitution. We are, therefore, looking for a co-Treasurer to support the Committee member who will take on the Treasurer’s role. The Treasurer and co-Treasurer are supported by a PIPA contractor who is a qualified accountant, and who has previously worked for KPMG.

There are also a number of other opportunities for PIPA members to join the Committee.

What is involved as a member of the PIPA Committee?

The Committee may have up to fifteen members, who must be members of PIPA. Once elected, each member serves for two years and may have responsibility for specific activities such as managing a workstream. The committee meets monthly to plan, organise and manage PIPA activities on behalf of the members There are typically six face to face Committee meetings during the year, the remainder being short meetings organised via teleconference. PIPA has ambitious plans for its future and you will have the opportunity to contribute to its strategic thinking. In between the meetings, the level of activity will depend upon availability and the PIPA programme. It is understood that the Committee Members Employers’ work must take precedence; the team respect that we’re all volunteers and contribute to the best of our ability.

Membership of the PIPA Committee gives you an opportunity to expand your network of personal contacts across the pharmaceutical industry, learn new skills, improve your knowledge of key issues in the pharmaceutical industry, gain a wider perspective and contribute to the information community and PIPA.

Ideally, you should have a minimum of one or two years experience in medical information or pharmacovigilance. What is essential is enthusiasm and willingness to work as part of a team.The Committee welcomes members from every pharmaceutical information sector, pharmacovigilance, R&D and business information.

If you are interested in joining the Committee, don’t delay. Complete the nomination form (which can be found on the Conference page of the PIPA website, and send it, together with a brief manifesto (one or two paragraphs of background about yourself and why you would like to join) toChristine Needham, to arrive no later than 2nd October 2015.
