DENVER BRONCOS TRAINING CAMP QUOTES (8/12/15)
WIDE RECEIVER EMMANUEL SANDERS
On how he is feeling
“I feel good. I feel really good. Obviously, with the hamstring, we were taking it day-by-day. I got out here today. I felt really good. I felt no pain at all. I felt like I was back to myself, so [I] just have got to continuously get better.”
On if taking it slow with injuries is helpful
“The thing is, obviously with a new coaching staff, we're getting to try to know each other. [Head Coach Gary] Kubiak is one of those guys where he's pretty much saying, 'Hey look, take your time. If you're hurt, you're hurt.' We don't rush back. Obviously, it's still preseason. I'm not saying that it's not important because it's definitely important for me. I want to be out there. I want to be able to make plays so when I enter the regular season, I'll be ready. Still, I don't want to go out there and be playing hurt. That was the biggest challenge of just making sure that I come back at the correct time.”
On if the philosophy with injuries is different from last season
“No, last year I didn't feel like I got forced in it either. They gave me like a week and a half. I mean, it was the same thing.”
On using the huddle offense
“I mean it's different because last year, I feel like the first eight games we were a no-huddle team. After Week 8 or Week 10, we started huddling up, also. We started running the football. We started to get into more December, November-type football which the weather is bad, you have snow and stuff like that, and so we started running the football. The transition of that made this transition even easier. I'm looking forward to it. I think that the people of Denver and the Broncos fans are going to be excited about this new offense. I'm excited to just show them on Friday.”
On players saying they've never been in a huddle offense
“Yeah, that's the way that football is starting to go—no-huddle, hurry up, throw the football for 500 yards a game, score a lot of points. That's the direction that it's going. Obviously, with Seattle and all these other different teams that are winning the Super Bowl, it shows that if you run the football and you base it off of play-action type, that you can have success with that, also. Hopefully we will this year.”
On passes coming out quicker because of the offensive line’s youth
“No, I have complete faith in those guys. Obviously, they're young, but still they're out here holding their own. I know [QB] Peyton's [Manning] going to have those guys and he's going to hold them accountable. I haven't seen any setbacks from the offensive line. I have complete faith in those guys, and I know Peyton does too.”
On how Manning looks
“Man, he's looking really good. I don't feel like he's lost a step. I asked him the other day—he doesn't wear the glove. I told him, 'Man, your arm's a lot stronger without the glove.' That's pretty impressive. I can tell that he's been putting a lot of work in in the offseason.”
On if training camp is like a 'country club’
“Kubiak last night in team meetings pretty much told the vets that we don’t have to stay in our hotel. Everyone starts screaming, 'We love ya! We love ya!' He's been really good to us. Everybody's feeling good. I'm excited to see the test that we have in front of us on Friday.”
On what Manning looks like when he rolls out of the pocket
“He looks like Peyton. I haven't seen anything. I feel like he can make every single throw. Anything in this offense that they want him to do, I feel like he can do it and be the best at doing it.”
