Application for Physical Education Credit for Interscholastic Participation

Student–athletes may be granted credit for participation in district interscholastic athletic programs. A student using interscholastic athletic participation to fulfill graduation requirements may be graded on this participation, provided that a teacher credentialed to teach physical education supervises this participation and assigns the grade.

Credit

If a student athlete is requesting credit for interscholastic participation, this means that they may choose to receive a grade or a pass provided that a teacher credentialed to teach physical education supervises this participation and assigns the grade. When the teacher is not credentialed in Physical Education, the student will receive a pass if they fulfill the requirements.

Interscholastic Physical Education Credit

  1. Interscholastic Physical Education Credit Contracts are limited to students in grades 10-12.
  1. A maximum of 10 credits may be used towards meeting the Physical Education graduation requirement.
  1. Interscholastic Physical Education Credit cannot be used to make up a regular physical education class that was failed.
  1. Requests for Interscholastic Physical Education Credit are to be made in writing using the attached forms. An individual contract must be completed and all signatures must be obtained for program approval prior to the beginning of the season of sport.
  1. The school principal or designee shall be responsible for the approval of the plan.
  1. All conditions of the contract must be completed before credit will be issued. Failure to meet the conditions of the contract shall result in a drop from the program and a loss of credit for the semester in progress. If a student athlete is injured during the season, credit may be earned if the appropriate number of hours has been accrued. The school principal or designee will verify hours prior to granting credit.
