Job purpose / To supervise and ensure the safety of all students attending the Summer School.

Main objective
The aim of the Summer School is to ensure that all students’ experience dance in a fun, friendly, relaxed and safe environment, and the chaperone plays a significant part in making this happen.
Main tasks
Hall of Residence (Digby Stuart Campus)
1. Meet the students on registration day and help with all administration tasks during registration.
2. Remain overnight at the Hall of Residence throughout your engagement.
3. Ensure students are awake and up on time.
4. Assist where necessary with getting students ready e.g. helping to put hair up, ensuring they have their dance clothes for the day etc.
5. Meet students in your allocated group at the designated meeting point in the Hall of Residence before breakfast, dinner and before coach departures. Escort students to and from the dining hall and supervise during all coach travel.
6. Supervise students at all times when at Digby Stuart Campus (unless you are on a designated break in agreement with the House Parent).
7. Ensure all students are in their own rooms at the appropriate time at lights-out.
Royal Academy of Dance (RAD headquarters)
1. Escort students from the halls of residence to the RAD, to their classes and chaperone in the studio.
2. Escort day students from registration to their classes and chaperone in the studio.
3. Organise, assist and supervise students during their breaks and lunch hour.
4. Notify the House Parent at any time if a student becomes unwell.
5. Notify the House Parent and/or the Student Activities Officers of any injuries and ensure a First Aider is called.
6. Assist with the distribution of snacks, lunch/dinner for the students and ensure that they are eating and drinking sufficiently.
7. Notify the Lead Chaperone of food stock levels or issues concerning the selection of meals/snacks.
8. Meet students in your allocated group at the designated meeting point at the RAD HQ, and escort to coaches.
9. Be attentive to students’ welfare and ensure students are included and not left on their own.
Evening / Weekend Activities and Outings
1. Assist with the organisation and supervision of students during evening/weekend activities and/or outings by undertaking specific responsibilities allocated to you by the Lead Chaperone, House Parent and/or Lead Student Activities Officer.
Other
1. Keep accurate and up-to-date registers of students. Completed registers are to be handed to the House Parent on a daily basis for their reference.
2. Account for all students at all/any times.
3. Be available at all times whilst on duty.
4. Ensure the Code of Conduct is upheld at all times.
5. Be aware of Health & Safety and Fire Regulations and the location of the meeting point at both the RAD and at the Hall of Residence.
6. Be aware of the location of the First Aid Kit and First Aiders and designated Fire Exits/Escapes at the RAD and the Hall of Residence.
7. Comply with the Royal Academy of Dance Safeguarding Policy and Procedure.
8. Direct any enquiries from parents/guardians to the House Parent, Lead Student Activities Officer or Head of Training.
9. Take direct instructions from the House Parent, Student Activities Officers and Head of Training, and on occasion, the Lead Chaperone.
10. Any other reasonable duties which may arise within the course of the Summer School.
