CQC Local System Reviews
We are writing to you as CQC has been commissioned to carry outa programme of targeted reviews of local health and social care systems, lookingspecifically at how people move between health and social care, with a particular focus on people over 65 years old. Delayed transfers of care are a specific focus in these reviews. The reviews will not include mental health services or specialist commissioning but, through case tracking, will look at the experiences of people living with dementia as they move through the system.
Our intention is that these reviews will provide a useful reflection for each of the local areas highlighting what is working well and where there are opportunities for improving how the system works for people using services. Following each review we will produce a report for each area which you will be able to access online.
Once we have completed all of the reviews, we will also be producing a national report of our findings, which will identify key themes and recommendations.
The local authority area of Sheffield has been selected for review, commencing on 5 March 2018.
This call for evidence
This call for evidence has been sent to local stakeholder groups (for example, local voluntary and community sector groups) to inform the review ofSheffield.This is your opportunity to tell us how you think the health and social care services in your area are working for people over 65. We are particularly interested in understanding:
- where there are examples of good practice
- where there are areas for improvement
The information you provide will help the review team to understand the local system, inform the planning and delivery of review activities and help develop the findings of the review.
Evidence sought
Set out below are four sections covering the specific points on which CQC would like to gather evidence. Please submit evidence in relation to as many questions as you wish to address. There is no obligation to respond to any or all questions.
We have set a word limit for each question, though if you would like to refer to other relevant materials you have published you can provide links to these within the text or attach with your response.
When answering the questions please be mindful of the scope of the local system review, described at the beginning of this introduction, and only include evidence directly relating to the geographical area of Sheffield.
The information you provide will be used solely for the purpose of informing the review of how people over 65 move between health and social care. It will not be used to inform our regulatory activity around specific providers and we will not be providing a rating.
