Objective:

·  Research and learn about different aspects of everyday life in Elizabethan Times.

·  Be able to give an oral presentation without reading out from notes.

·  Work in teams

·  Prepare a power point presentation.

Methodology:

Every member of the group must present some aspect of the work done together. The slide show should consist of at least 8 slides and a maximum of 12 slides. It should last for approximately10 minutes. The work should be done for homework as no classes will be allocated for this purpose. You must also present one printed version per group.

Assessment criteria: Marks will be given for the following:

·  Research skills: The information should be accurate. There must be evidence of research into a number of sources.

·  Creativity: your work must be original and visually interesting

·  Oral presentation: Your presentation must be clear and to the point. You may use notes and /or cue cards to refresh your memory but you must not read from a paper or from the slide.

·  Punctuality: the presentation of both the power point and the printed version must be presented and handed in when the teacher requires it.

·  Email a copy of your presentation (including names of your group) to your History teacher BEFORE you present in class

1. Theatre and Entertainment:

What type of public entertainment did the average citizen attend?

Who introduced the theatre? Who were the most famous playwrights?

What was the theatre like?

2. Fashion for both men and women.

Consider rich and poor and also how a person's religion could affect what they wore.

3. Life at court:

How did the nobles entertain themselves?

What were their main activities? Who was allowed to join the Court? Did they travel? Who did they travel with?

4. The City: What were the streets and nearby surroundings like? What were the major buildings? What were the houses like? Did houses change depending on social class?

What was the general atmosphere in a major city?

5. Crime. Vagrant and vagabonds: What constituted a crime? How was it punished? Whowerethe vagrants and vagabonds? Were they treated alike?

6. Food: What did people eat in those times? Did every one eat the same? Where did they obtain their food? Spices?
