With more than 38 years of experience, Pat has a strong background in government payer regulations. Pat has been with VEI since 2004. Previously she held consulting positions with Newby Consulting and Patern Medical Services.

Pat provides billing, coding, and compliance consulting services to clients. She is responsible for various audits, education on the principles of CPT and ICD coding, government regulations, and solving problems related to regulation and payers. She also coordinates and oversees enrollment for billing privilege and credentialing with managed care organizations and government entities.

Pat represents physicians and their practices on local government and third party payer committees exposing VEI to cutting edge information and communicating physician concerns. She currently is involved in the CMS Provider Outreach Educational Advisory Group (POE-AG), Anthem/WellPoint Participating Provider Advisory Committee (PPAC), Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA) Medicare/Medicaid Coalition and Commercial Payer Forum as well as past member of the CMS Region V Beneficiary Committee (BAC). Public speaking engagements include Community Physician Network, Indiana Medicaid Support Education, National Government Services, Ophthalmology Specialty Societies throughout the Midwest, Indiana Osteopathic Association,St. Vincent’s Primary Physician Network, AAPC Local Chapters, Michigan Ambulatory Surgical Association, and various educational speaking venues for physicians and senior citizen groups.

She is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) accredited by the AAPC, Certified Instructor of the Professional Medical Coding Curriculum (CPC-I), AAPC Approved ICD-10-CM Trainer and an approved AHIMA ICD-10-CM Instructor and Ambassador.

Brief Overview of Program: This two day (16 hour) ICD-10-CM intensive boot camp will cover each ICD-10-CM chapter extensively and provide case studies demonstrating proper ICD-10-CM code assignment. Each attendee will receive AAPC's ICD-10-CM Training Manual and an ICD-10-CM codebook. At the end of this training, you will be prepared to participate in the proficiency assessment of your ICD-10-CM knowledge administered by the AAPC.

Objective of Program: Each attendee will learn the characteristics, conventions, format, and structure of ICD-10-CM. Each attendee will have the opportunity to participate in coding actual case study examples and the application of the principles of ICD-10-CM Official Coding Guidelines. Each attendee will apply this knowledge to the required proficiency assessment of ICD-10-CM administered by the AAPC.
