RULES
- The competition to be known as the Sentinel Charity Golf Cup/Shield.
- The competition to be decided by rounds of individual matchplay golf. The rules of golf to apply as in individual matchplay golf with full handicap allowance. PLAYERS MUST PLAY OFF THEIR CURRENT HANDICAPS which may not necessarily be that applicable at the time of entering the competition.
- The competition to be open to all male members of recognised golf clubs within the circulation area of The Sentinel or to golfers who live within that area. Those members to have a recognised handicaps and proof thereof. Entrants must be over the age of 16 on March 1st of the relevant competition year.
- (a). The maximum handicap of Cup entrants to be 10. Players up to handicaps of 15 be permitted to enter but they must play off the maximum handicap of 10.
(b). The Shield to be open to players between the handicaps of 11 and 20. Those up to a handicap of 28 may enter but they must play off the maximum handicap of 20.
5 The draw per round will be made in the presence of committee members. The first player drawn in each pair shall be the HOME player. Responsibility for arranging the match rests with BOTH players. Green fees to be shared equally.
6 The round(s) shall be completed by the specified date with the winner responsible for notifying the competition secretary by post at the Box No. address on the form not later than 3 days after the closing date of the round.
7 A player/players will be eliminated from the competition if they fail to return the results sheet, duly signed by both players, not later than the specified 3 days after the round has been played OR if their match has not been played by the due date.
8 Entry fee shall be £7 per player. From the proceeds the committee shall decide the charity to be supported.
9 In addition to the Sentinel Cup and the Sentinel Shield, awards will be made to the first four in each competition.
10 In the event of multiple membership, players may only enter from the club issuing the handicap and this will be his home club. Those eligible to play in the Sentinel Cup and Sentinel Shield shall play in ONE only. Entries only accepted on the official entry form.
11 The final and, if required, additional holes to be decided on the same date at a course as determined by the committee.
12 Current local club rules to be observed in every game. The tees in use to be determined by the club of the home player.
13 If a match is all square after 18 holes the tie to be decided by ‘’sudden death’’ play-off.
14 The committee shall be the final arbiter on all rules and matters relating to the competition.
15 If players are having difficulty in arranging the fixture please contact the Chairman, Chris Bayley on 01782 811596 during Office Hours at least seven days prior to the closing date.
