Summer 2018 Workshops, Camps, and Intensives Descriptions:

Illinois Ballet Academy Intensive, 6/11-6/14, Mon-Thurs 9:00AM-2:00PM, Levels 3+, Ages 12+, $400

Taught by Marcella Ducsay, Artistic Director of Illinois Ballet Academy, and other special guest master teachers, dancers will fine tune and further develop their ballet skills with a ballet class followed by pointe or pre-pointe, for dancers not yet en pointe, Balanchine Variations, and either contemporary or character class. Ballet dancers will leave this intensive week having received the best ballet instruction the Western Suburbs has to offer.

Pop Diva Camp, 6/18-6/21, Mon-Thurs 12:00PM-3:00 PM OR 7/9-7/12 9:00AM- 12:00PM, Ages 5-8, $200

One of our most popular camps! Does your child like to sing popular tunes around the house from the top of his or her lungs? Pop Diva Camp may be the way to go this summer! Since your child already has the singing down, let’s teach him or her how to add the moves to make it a performance number like the music stars! We will feature artists like Katy Perry, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift. Campers will also make diva accessories during camp to wear during their special performances.

Junior Ballet Intensive, Illinois Ballet Academy, 6/18-6/21, Mon-Thurs 9:00AM-12:30PM, Levels Junior Prep, Junior Elite and Core, Ages 8-11,$300

Taught by Marcella Ducsay, Artistic Director of Illinois Ballet Academy, and other special guest master teachers, dancers will further develop their ballet skills and build their technique through master classes in contemporary and character. This intensive will help the dancers to focus on the technical element of their training to become stronger well-rounded dancers.

Youth Ballet Camp, Illinois Ballet Academy, 6/25-6/28, Mon-Thurs 9:00AM-12:00PM, Ages 5-8, $250

Taught by Marcella Ducsay, Artistic Director of Illinois Ballet Academy, this fun ballet camp will allow dancers to enter the world of storybook ballet. Dancers will get inspired to use their imagination by transforming into the lead character of a storybook and dramatize the tale through enchanting choreography and use of props and crafts. Dancers will develop their ballet vocabulary and movement in an imaginative and creative atmosphere.

Lyrical/Contemporary Workshop, 6/27-6/28, Weds & Thurs

Juniors Ages 8-11, 9:30AM-12:30PM, $125

Teens Ages 12+, 10:30AM-1:30PM, $125

This NEW two day workshop focuses on Lyrical and Contemporary dance genres and building movement through progressions and choreography. Any dancer that loves incorporating dance styles, performance and expression will enjoy exploring and developing their own artistry through this workshop.

Come audition for our award-winning companies! Our dance companies are structured to provide a well-rounded program of dance techniques, genres, choreography and performance/competitive opportunities to the focused dancer. We offer a variety of companies specific to age groups and skill levels including Boys and Girls Hip-Hop Crews, Petite Elite and Junior Prep Dance Companies for our younger dancers, and our Main Companies. Students must audition for our companies and take all required technique classes to be a part of PVDC. Please register to secure an audition time slot.

Young Choreographer’s Workshop, 7/9-7/10, Mon- Tues 9:30AM-12:30PM, Ages 8-11, $125

This NEW two day workshop focuses on helping dancer’s create and find their own artistic voice through movement. Dancers will expand their improvisational skills through exploring and guided improv, partnering and collaborative choreography. Any dancer that loves making up dances or teaching other dancers will enjoy this workshop!

Teen Hip-Hop Workshop, 7/9-7/10, Mon-Tues 10:30AM-1:30PM, Ages 12+, $125

This NEW two day workshop will incorporate Pop and Hip-Hop movement to fun, upbeat music. Focus on isolations and progressions across the floor, choreography and Hip-Hop techniques such as basic breaking, popping/locking, tutting, and stepping to lyric-appropriate music. Any dancer that wants to learn the latest dance moves of some of their favorite music artists will enjoy this workshop!

Whether you are already on the squad, or looking forward to your 1st tryout, this camp will get you ready to win a spot on the team! Run by Jen Isaacson and other guest instructors who have danced and cheered on professional teams, students will learn pom, jazz and dance team technique needed to make Pom and Cheer teams; giving your dancer the skills necessary to develop into strong dancers over time.

Jazz Vibe Intensive, 7/23-7/26, Mon-Thurs 9:00AM–2:15PM, Ages 9+, Split into Levels, $345

Every dancer’s dream! Come take classes by a variety of professional dancers from Chicago that will each focus on a different style of jazz dance! Dancers will use their strong technical foundation to explore Contemporary Jazz, Broadway Jazz, Commercial Jazz, Jazz Funk, Classical Jazz and Modern Jazz all in one week! Classes will include skills, progressions across the floor and in the center, and choreography of that jazz style. Don’t miss this fun Intensive!

Pure Vibe Dance Company Intensive, 7/30-8/3, Mon-Fri 9:30AM-2:00PM, Petite Elite Junior Prep and Junior Elite, Ages 5+, Split into Levels, $360

All dancers who made Petite Elite, Junior Prep and Junior Elite Dance Companies must attend this camp in order to prepare for the 2018/2019 Dance Company season. Casting and choreography of company pieces will occur during the week!This intensive will focus on technique in a variety of dance styles preparing our younger companies to be well-rounded dancers. We will also cover what to expect in a dance competition and how you prepare to perform.
