Human Resources Committee
City Clerk.
With the absent of Teresa due to her being on medical
leave Paul had to hire a replacement to maintain continuity
with city business and hired Lou Ann Ahrens on a temporary basis until Teresa situation is resolved. The committee recommends hiring Lou Ann Ahrens at a per hour rate of
$18.50 effective December 30, 2011.
City Administrator.
During this time and for as long as needed the authorized signatures for the City of Renville will be Paul McLaughlin and Janette Wertish. The City should consider eventually having three people authorized to sign on behalf of the City. The committee recommends this change effective December 30, 2011
Paul’s Pending Retirement.
Paul is planning to retire on November 1, 2012 and the committee, with the council’s approval, would like to direct Paul to pursue the creation of a job description for a City Administrator/Clerk position.
A motion was made by Dennis Ulrich and seconded by Randy Johnson to approve the HR Committee report. The motion carried unanimously.
City Administrator’s Report.
- The Human Resources met on January 5th as was previously reported and I would like to add one more thing and that is the following: The Human Resources Committee met on December 7th and some of the items that were discussed at that meeting need to be addressed with Teresa and since she was not in attendance and on medical leave they were not discussed.
- I am in discussions with Verizon Wireless regarding the cell phone contract the City had with Midwest Wireless and subsequently Alltel.
- A new furnace is recommended for replacement and the cost for that replacement is $6,500. It is the furnace that is approximately 20 years old. Will also have all the other furnaces checked for their condition.
- I will be out of the office on January 17th and 18th so since the EDA Committee is scheduled to meet on January 18th I am asking if the Committee wants to reschedule or not. We can reschedule the meeting for Thursday, January 19th at 5:30 p.m. and I will notify everyone on the Committee.
- The regular scheduled meeting of the Human Resources Committee is the 4th Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m. and since the Council and the Committee would like me to gather information about the possibility of creating a new position I think we should schedule a meeting for Friday, January 13th at
2:00 p.m. and a follow-up meeting for January 19th at 2:00 p.m. I will contact Jon Saunders if you would like to have him attend.
- Just a reminder that the Public Works Committee will be meeting on Wednesday, January 11th at
5:30 p.m.
A motion was made by Raye McKim and seconded by Shane Wohlman to approve the City Administrator report. The motion carried unanimously.
