o  State of Security in New Zealand in 2011 This talk will look at some of real world examples of cyber security issues that New Zealand has faced over the past 18-24 months including website defacements, account compromises, identify theft / fraud, insider attacks, data theft, data leakage, website compromises, skimming attacks, and major virus outbreaks. It will then provide an overview of the New Zealand security industry and community, including the relevant Government authorities and policy in place to combat this, such as the creation of the New Zealand Internet Task Force.

Overview The New Zealand Internet Task Force, NZITF, is a public-private partnership, whose mission is to "Improve the cyber security posture of New Zealand". There have been some good tangible outcomes over the last couple of years, which have been achieved with no formal funding, but through a collaborative approach. This presentation will provide an overview of the NZITF and what we are doing to improve the cyber security posture of New Zealand.
