St. Aidan’s Catholic Primary Academy
Newsletter Number:8 23rdOctober 2015
Dear Parents/carersWe are having a wonderful time at Kingswood. Our children have made us proud. It is always an anxious time taking children away especially when they have only been used to staying overnight with family members or not overnight at all. All staff members are aware that children may experience homesickness and react and support accordingly. I hope you have had an opportunity to look on our website at a selection of photographs from the trip. We have experienced fencing, archery, caving, been on a 4 hour woodland walk and tried the Leap of Faith, among other activities. We are coming home later today with a group of children who should have lasting memories which they can talk about in years to come.
Weekly Reflection
‘Resourcefulness is using the assets that God has provided’
Heavenly Father, we pray that we use our resources wisely in the world
and do not waste what you have given us.
Help us to appreciate that our resources are gifts from you
that should be shared with others.
Amen
Masses
This Tuesday was particularly special as Fr Marek celebrated mass with the whole of Year 2 at St Cedd’s. The theme was being resourceful and the children heard the story of the Wiseman building his house upon the rock. Thank you to Father Marek and Father Matthew for taking time to celebrate Mass with us.
Our next mass will be St Cedd’s House Mass on November 2nd.
Visits and Visitors
This week we have been thinking particularly about the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Marriage. Year 1 and Year 2 visited St Cedd’s and looked at the Baptismal font and heard about the different parts of the Baptismal ceremony; Mrs Timbrell answered questions about her son’s recent Baptism from children in Year 3; Children from Palmer Catholic Academy came and talked to Year 4 about their experiences of Confirmation; Mrs West shared with Year 5 her experiences of Marriage and what it means to her.
Thank you to Father Marek, Mrs Judge from Palmer Catholic Academy, Mrs West and Mrs Timbrell for their help.
Building Update
You will be pleased to know that we have now received the additional funding for the building work. Mr Whiston. the Chair of Governors, Myself, Mrs Corrudus-Weekes our Business Manager and Elements Europe, our contractors will be having a pre planning meeting next week to sort out the strategic plan for the build.
We are also expecting the mobile classrooms to arrive next Friday. The two year 4 classes will move into their new classrooms during the week beginning 2nd November.
Ilford Catholic Schools
To strengthen our links with local Catholic schools we have planned a joint Carol Service in December. Another way of us sharing expertise is by the use of teaching staff. We have been given an opportunity to have a teacher swap after half term for class 4L. An experienced teacher will be coming to our school for two weeks from Ilford Ursuline Preparatory school, and Miss Long will be going along to their school. We hope this will be the start of a long and productive relationship, between our schools. We have lots to learn from them and we have a great deal to share. We will keep you posted on future developments between our Catholic schools.

Remember in your prayers
