JAPANESE IMMERSION SUMMER CAMP: SITE COORDINATOR

Qualifications for WV JAPANESE IMMERSION SUMMER CAMP SITE COORDINATOR

·  Ability to legally work in the United States

·  Previous experience presenting Japanese language and culture to an audience

·  Previous experience teaching Japanese language preferred

·  Previous experience working with elementary children preferred

·  Previous experience working within a JAPANESE IMMERSION SUMMER CAMP summer camp preferred

Commitment to the Project

·  Participate in a minimum of 4 on-site/pre-program trainings.

·  Enroll and participate in a JAPANESE IMMERSION SUMMER CAMP Japanese Teacher program if personal situation allows or participate in a mediated-online training module program.

·  Supervise other Facilitators on site and pre-program trainings and supervise volunteer members during the camp

·  Assist in development of extracurricular activities and materials related to the JAPANESE IMMERSION SUMMER CAMP program theme.

·  Facilitate instruction during the West Virginia JAPANESE IMMERSION SUMMER CAMP program at Altizer Elementary during the 10 days of the program.

·  Order necessary camp supplies (students’ materials, teachers’ materials, T-shirts, and backpack)

·  Collaborate with Project Director, Japanese instructors and other program staff (volunteers) throughout the implementation of the JAPANESE IMMERSION SUMMER CAMP program.

·  Collaborate with building principal (Altizer Elementary School) and other county office staff.

·  Deal with parents and discipline matters during the camp.

Project Incentives:

·  $500 for participating in the two days of training & Curriculum development

·  $500 for program curriculum development and set up

·  $2,500 for facilitating during the 10 days of the WV JAPANESE IMMERSION SUMMER CAMP program in Huntington, WV

Project Timelines:

·  April 13, 2016: Notification of Acceptance

·  June 2 -5, 2016: Trainings, Professional Development, Ordering of Materials , Program Planning and Set-up, Program Set-up at Altizer Elementary School – Huntington, WV

·  June 6 - 17, 2016: WV Japanese Immersion Summer Camp in Cabell County- Huntington, WV
