Food Safety (FS)
FPA concern is food safety related to pesticide residues in food crops which exceed the set Philippine MRLs and MRLs other regulating bodies or competent authority / Animal Feed Safety

GPF - General principles and requirements applicable to food law:
- Protection of human life and health, and protection of consumer’s interests, with due regard for the protection of animal health and welfare, plant health and the environment;
- Consideration of existing and planned international standards;
- Principle that unsafe food should not be placed on the market;
- Food is deemed to be unsafe if it is considered to be injurious to health or unfit for human consumption;
- Importance of food traceability;
- Food business operator primary responsibility for safety of food produced.

- Principle that unsafe feed should not be placed on the market;
- Feed is deemed to be unsafe if it has adverse effect on human or animal health or makes the food derived from food-producing animals unsafe for human consumption;

To control the presence of pesticide residues present on food crops, the FPA in coordination with BPI shall conduct sampling on food crops for pesticide residue analysis. The concerned agency and party shall conduct coordinated monitoring oo farmers or crop growers to their compliance to Good Agricultutal Practices and application of pesticides based on the product labels.
