Detroit Economic Club Scholarship - Graduating seniors in Wayne, Oakland or Macomb counties who have overcome hardships to achieve personal goals. For more information go to Deadline: April 15, 2018.

Jeptha Wade Schureman Scholarship - Scholarship for up to $7,500for fatherless children (either through death or permanent termination of parental rights) who are residents of Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Lenawee, Monroe, Livingston, Washtenaw or St. Clair counties and want to pursue majors or careers in nursing, law, dentistry or medicine. Applicants must demonstrate strong scholastic performance while in high school or college with an equivalent of a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Helen Tallman Fund Scholarship - Through her estate gift, Ms. Tallman requested that a portion of awards from the Fund support scholarships for Wayne State University students who are majoring in engineering fields or pre-medical/medical fields. Student should demonstrate exemplary desire, ability and good grades. Student should demonstrate leadership and character through extracurricular activities, volunteer involvement and work experience in school and the community.Applications are available online at Deadline: April 15, 2018.

Robert Holmes Scholarship- TheCommunity Scholarships for Southeastern Michigan is sponsoring up to 6 one-time awards of $1,000 for graduating seniors who are children of eligible Michigan Teamsters members. Student must have strong scholastic performance while in high school or significant academic improvement in each successive year, achieving the equivalent of a B average at graduation. Student should demonstrate exemplary qualities of leadership in school, extra-curricular activities, and the community. Class rank is an important factor in the selection process. However, extenuating circumstances are also considered. Application or acceptance as a full-time, first-year student at an accredited post-secondary educational certificate/degree program; e.g., a four-year or two-year public/private college or university, a two-year technical college, or other accredited educational institution located in Michigan. Divorce Matters Scholarship–Award amount: $2,500.This scholarship is available high school seniors and current college students who have either had parents go through a divorce or who have gone through a divorce themselves. Divorce Matters understands how difficult it can be to pay for college after being involved in a divorce and want to help someone afford a better education. To be eligible, applicants must be attending a 4-yr college/university or 2-yr community college for Fall 2018.Deadline: May 31, 2018.

Hammett, Bellin & Oswald Law and Justice Scholarship~ Award Amount: $750 - This scholarshipis for all first-year college freshman who will be attending an accredited College/University during the 2018-2019 school year (current seniors). Applicant must be enrolled in and plan to attend a college/university during the 2018-2019 school year, have proof of enrollment to an accredited college/university and a minimum 3.0 GPA required. Homer J. Hollenbeck Foundation ~ Award Amount: $2,500. Applicants must attend a Macomb county high school, maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher, demonstrate a hardship which could otherwise prevent you prevent from attending college and attend college full-time in the fall of 2017. We Are The Independents Scholarship - Michigan Colleges Alliance will award four “We Are The Independents” scholarships of $2,000 each month to high school juniors and seniors (on top of the numerous financial aid opportunities you’ll already receive from Michigan’s top 15 independent colleges and universities). Simply provide some basic information in the form below and you’re enrolled in a chance for a scholarship. There’s a drawing every month, so you’ll have dozens of opportunities to win. You can increase your chances by touring any of the 15 Michigan Independent Colleges. Take a selfie and post it to Twitter along with the hashtag #wearetheindependents and you’ll receive another entry into the We Are The Independents scholarship drawing. Leadership Camp is a three-day leadership program on CMU’s campus that helps high school juniors and seniors explore their leadership abilities through activities, reflections, and service. Campers will learn about The Social Change Model of Leadership and how to apply it to their everyday lives. Seniors who have been admitted to CMU for Fall 2018 are invited, along with juniors who are considering CMU. Through Leadership Camp, we will begin to enhance your students’ current leadership skills and guide their journeys as CMU’s leaders of tomorrow. Michigan Apprenticeship Program Plus:

Michigan Apprenticeship Program Plus is a partnership between Macomb Community College and Grand Rapids Community College to develop apprenticeship career pathways. MAP+ will work with high schools and others to provide pre-apprentice and apprenticeship training, employer/student matching, special events and outreach, associate degree attainment and four-year transferability options. Macomb Community College will focus on manufacturing (CNC machining, tooling, die, mold, welding, industrial maintenance, etc.) as well as supporting other traditional apprenticeship areas (construction, climate control, etc.). Grand Rapids will also include a focus on the information technology sector. MAP+ will work with area employers to increase the number of apprenticeships in the Macomb and Grand Rapids areas and beyond. Classes begin every semester. Each year hundreds of volunteers have helped clean up Lake St. Clair Metropark, removing litter, plastic, fishing line and hooks, and other items that can be harmful to wildlife.
