To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing in regards to the job posting for police officer. My name is Samantha Ackerson and I am currently a campus police officer for Lasell College and Mount Ida College. I have been with my department for a little over 3 months. I am a former Campus Police Officer for the Department of Mental Health. I worked for DMH for one year and 4 months. I possess an Associate’s Degree in criminal justice from Massasoit Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Bridgewater State University. Also, I am a graduate of South Suburban Police Institute Reserve/Intermittent Academy; my graduation date was June 28, 2016. My experience as a DMH campus police officer helped me grow as the police officer that I strive to be. DMH taught me a great deal about being patient and understanding. I take pride in my ability to de-escalate high tension situations and have fine-tuned my interpersonal skills. My current job as a police officer for Lasell and Mount Ida colleges has taught me a different side to police work. I am able to focus more on community policing and establishing a positive relationship with the students as well as the faculty and staff. I enjoy getting to know the people within the community; I feel that if they see us as the people who they can go to for guidance and advice then we can break the stigma that is currently attached to police officers due to negativity in the media.
It would be appreciated if we could talk in person to discuss this job opportunity directly. Please contact me directly at 508-521-5623 or by my e-mail located at the top of this letter. I look forward to hearing from you.
Respectfully Submitted,
Samantha Ackerson
