Fashion & Fabric Contests

·  A separate entry form must be completed for each category in each division.

·  Entry forms are due one week prior to the contest.

Age groups for these contests are: Cloverbud (5-8 yr), Junior (9-11 yr), Intermediate (12-14 yr), and Senior (15-18 yr).

There are four (4) separate components within the Fashions and Fabrics Contests. They are as follows:

Impressive Dress

This contest is open to all age groups and includes modeling clothing that has or has not been sewn by the individual. Applicants will answer questions regarding care and practicality of garments. Individuals may enter two (2) clothing categories. (ex. Formal Wear and Western Wear) Please complete the Impressive Dress entry form. A separate form must be completed for each category.

Dress Revue

This contest is open to all age groups and is considered a clothing construction contest. Therefore, these projects are to be made by the individual with assistance by an adult, if needed. Individuals may enter one item in each category listed. Please complete the Dress Revue form. A separate form must be completed for each category.

Job Readiness

This contest is open to the Intermediate and Senior age groups. The competitive mock application/interview process should be for a job that is of interest to the 4-Her. This experience is extremely helpful in preparing for a realistic job interview. Individuals may enter only once in this category. Please complete the Job Readiness entry form.

Style Show

This is a non-competitive, fun activity for all individuals who have entered the Fashions and Fabrics Contests. Each individual may only model one outfit. Please complete the Style Show form so the teen leaders can read from the script while you model. (ex. This is Jane Doe from the Craig County 4-H Club. She has been a member for 3 years and her project areas are rabbits and computers. Jane is wearing her 4-H apron that she made this year.

Impressive Dress Categories

Casual Wear

Examples: Garments to wear to school, fairs, rodeos, dates, movies, spectator sports, shopping, etc.

Active Sportswear

Examples: Garments to wear to play tennis, skiing, jogging, etc.

Dress Wear

Examples: Garments to wear to church or other occasions.

Formal Wear

Examples: Garments to wear to weddings, parties, formal events, and other special occasions.

Western Wear

Examples: Garments to wear to a rodeo or on a trail ride.

Style Review Script

One script per participant in Fashions and Fabrics Contest.

Instructions: Write the monologue as you want it to be read by the Fashion Show commentator. No edits will be made. Begin with your name, followed by a brief description of your garment. Include color, fabric, accessories, your hobbies, and years in 4-H. Please write clearly.
