Designation Application Template

As part of the Neighbourhood Planning process, Town and Parish Councils are required to define the area theNeighbourhood Plan will cover as set out in the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations 2012. This is known as the Neighbourhood area.

The Parish or Town Council will need agree at a Council Meeting that they wish to develop a Neighbourhood Development Plan and designate their Neighbourhood area. For further information please refer to the Defining the Boundary guide note.

We have produced a designation application template below to help you through this stage of the process. This will need to be submitted to Cornwall Council with a map showing the Neighbourhood area (normally the parish boundary) for the Neighbourhood Plan.

Application under Part 2 (5) (1) of The Neighbourhood Planning

(General) Regulations 2012 for the designation of a Neighbourhood Area.

(Insert Name) Parish/TownCouncil give notice that we wish to make an

application under Part 2 (5) (1) of The Neighbourhood Planning (General)

Regulations 2012/2015 for the designation of a Neighbourhood Area for the

Neighbourhood Development Plan.

The application is accompanied by a map (below) identifying the area to

which the application relates, being the entire area of (Name)Parish.

This area is considered appropriate to be designated as a neighbourhood

area for the following reasons:

-The Parish/Town Council resolved to develop a plan for the neighbourhood area at a council meeting on (date)

-Have the community agreed that a neighbourhood plan should be developed? Have you held any public meetings and when?

-We consider that the whole of the parish of (area),is the most appropriate area to becovered by the plan.

(Name) Town/Parish Council is the relevant body for the purposes ofsection 61G of the 1990 Town and Country Planning Act being the parish council for the entire area applied for.
