Visit Tampa Bay leads the effort of economic development through tourism.Our mission is to create vibrant economic development for our community by collaboratively increasing visitation to Tampa Bay. Currently, we are looking for an experienced and creative writer who isenthusiastic and driven.This person will be responsiblefor national and international media relations, copywriting and familiarization tours. This person willserve as a Public Relations liaison between Visit Tampa Bay andin-market representatives in the United Kingdom, Germany and Brazil.
Responsibilities
Market and promote Tampa Bay as a tourism and meetings destination via national and international media
Work in partnership with marketing team to create an integrated approach to media relations in
coordination with the overall strategic and marketing goals of Visit Tampa Bay
Identify and target appropriate media outlets/contacts for inclusion in media relations initiatives and activities, including publicity blitzes, media calls, special events and news release distribution
Manage group media familiarization trips and individual media visits. This includes creating media list, distributing invitations, developing and coordinating the itinerary, conducting on-site visits and tracking the resulting media coverage for post familiarization accountability report
Compile, review, and target annual editorial calendars and weekly editorial leads, responding to media
and distributing leads to Visit Tampa Bay partners, as appropriate
Write a variety of unique and interesting Tampa Bay stories and news angles appropriate to key media targets.
Maintain and update Tampa Bay press kit and online Media Room
Write content for internal Visit Tampa Bay sales and marketing projects such as sales brochures,
destination guides, brochures, website, e-mail and online content
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Minimum 5 to 8 years Marketing, Public Relations or Communications experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Tourism Marketing
Marketing, Communications or Journalism degree from an accredited college or university required
Destination Marketing Organization experience required
