Background Information
The Kai Tak Station (KAT) forms part of the Sha Tin to Central Link currently under construction by MTRC.
It is a 2-level RC box structure situated within the old Kai Tak Airport and constructed by cut-and-cover
method. There will be northbound and southbound connection tunnels to the adjacent contracts also constructed by cut-and-cover method, together with a section of mined tunnels under the former Kowloon
City piers. Also included in the contract are 3 entrances, an emergency egress point, trackwork access
shafts , ABWF and landscape works. The contract commenced in April 2013 and is due for completion
inApril 2018.
The site visit aims to provide our members with an understanding of the design and construction aspects of
the Kai Tak Station and associated tunnels, and the problems encountered during construction. The visitors
will also view the construction works in progress.

Notice for Registration
- The number of participants is limited to 25, and priority will be given to EAHK members.
- All participants should be responsible for their own safety and belongings and need to sign an
Undertaking upon registration.
- If typhoon signal no. 1(or above) or the rainstorm warning (red or black) is hoisted or announced
to be hoisted in effect within two hoursprior to the start of the visit, the visit will be cancelled
without further notice.
- Visitors need to wear safety shoes and are advised to bring their own PPE if available.
