Corralling Guidance

This guidance is provided to help ensure that high standards of safety are maintained throughout this event. It is everybody’s responsibility to create a safe environment for themselves and their horse whilst at Barbury Castle.

All riders corral their horse at their own risk. They must construct a corral suitable for their horse and electrify the fence whenever it is in use.

No vehicles are permitted in the designated corral area at any time whatsoever. This includes off-loading horses and or corral equipment on arrival at the venue or loading horses and or coral equipment when departing.

Procedure

  • Your corral pass tag is included within your Rider Information please ensure that personal details are recorded correctly on the back of the corral pass eg Rider Name, Horse Name, Class Number and Mobile contact number.
  • Please ensure that this data matches your ride entry data held by the Office Secretary and notify any changes.
  • Within the designated corral area mark out corral space with electric fencing, which must be electrified when in use.
  • Corral spaces should be of a reasonable size to provide adequate space for the horse to move around in but not excessive. Please be considerate of other people who will be corralling.
  • Leave sufficient space between corrals. This is to allow a safe passage for horses to move into and out of corrals and to leave the designated corral area.
  • Tie corral pass tag onto corral post securely with cable tie.
  • Do not erect any tents/awnings/gazebos within the corral area.
  • Only one horse per corral is permitted.
  • Spot checks to ensure corrals in use are electrified and have been constructed safely will be made. Should any corral be found not to comply with the above requirements then the rider concerned will be asked to comply or remove their horse from the venue.
  • Should a corral not display the corral pass tag it will be dismantled and removed from the corral area.
  • Please adhere to the notices on the entry gates to the venue and close all gates.
  • Please ensure that the corral area is cleaned and all muck and hay is removed and put in the designated area.

Thank you for your co-operation.
