Department of Public Policy and Public Affairs
The Department of Public Policy and Public Affairs of the McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston seeks to hire two faculty members: one at the full or associate professor level and one at the assistant professor level, to begin September 2008. Responsibilities include: teaching, generating and conducting policy research, mentoring and advising doctoral and masters-level students, and departmental service. The positions are open with respect to applicants’ disciplines and areas of research relating to scholarship on public policy and public affairs. However, preference will be given to scholars whose expertise is in one or more of the following policy areas: state and local government; public finance; urban affairs; immigration; education; or race and ethnic relations.
Qualifications for the full and associate professor level positions include: a strong publication record; experience mentoring doctoral student research; a record of teaching and research in core curricular areas, and experience generating external grant money. Applicants at the assistant professor level will show significant potential for the above qualifications. All candidates should demonstrate familiarity with curriculum in policy studies, public policy, public administration, or public affairs programs at the graduate level, and hold a Ph.D. in Public or Social Policy, Policy Studies, Political Science, Sociology or related social science field.
