Horse pill in a Twinkie

There are certain songs that you want to listen to depending on the mood you're in. If you're feeling particularly aggressive you might put on a little All Against All. If your girlfriend left you, you might take a stroll down emo lane. But this is a song that I'd put on if I'm just having a really good day, maybe just got a promotion or something. This is ironic because lyrically it’s not really a feel good song. It talks about a kid who never leaves his house until one day he's abducted probably by his own mother who couldn't take the burden of raising an agoraphobic and mentally unstable child. But the lyrics are encapsulated in this laid back, sunny music, kind of like putting a horse pill in a Twinkie.

This is a song that brings me back to cleaner times. The mood and sound reminds me of the Beach Boys, Eagles or The Beatles. If you're looking for a lot of change ups, bridges, breakdowns, guitar solos, or math rock time signatures, you will be disappointed. Structurally the song is very straight forward and basic. But it works for what the song is. I found it enjoyable.

Ok

Somber sort of vocals, like the chorus parts, a nice sing-a-long track. lyrics are ok and about something different for a change

Almost trippy.

Catchy melody. Good work. If it were 1972 you guys would be huge. Work on a more modern sound.

Whistling me home

Nice production. I'm not so hot on the vocals but I think that's a personal taste thing. Nice catchy chorus and song structure.

Snappy

The guitars are fresh and flow well between the electric and the acoustic, the vocals are pretty original. Has that Toad the Wet Sprocket mood. Strong vocal harmonies, Super strong hook, and very catchy chorus, a little more bass please...Great job

Fun

I like the intro, almost seems like it's in the wrong genre. The vocals are kind of like a rock band but the music isn’t strange combination. It's almost creepy to hear people singing like that and speaking of children as peers, even if it's in the past.

Some very interesting lyrics

Some very interesting lyrics and guitar arrangements make this a very memorable song. Production and vocals could do with a polish but still good.

kwz rev

Very nice original intro, the song harmony reminds me of Simon and Garfunkel - very nice bass work, the song has a vintage retro vibe that is very nostalgic.I really like this and it sure is going to see major label success. Great production on the whole, the mix is perfect and the guitars sit perfectly without intruding too much in the mix. Nice lyrics too. Kudos all around!

Pretty good

I got a nice little chuckle out of the whistling in the intro. I think you could put a little more emphasis on some arrangement parts working down in the bass frequency area, which btw, is a great tone. Harmonies are great. Not a timely song, but nowadays radio sucks anyway. Little pitchy in the chorus. As far as the song goes, not a huge fan of it, but it's pretty good.

Strong voice

The music is background - here it’s the singer that has the lead. And that’s not always the case. You could work a little bit on the guitar parts, well played but perhaps could be a little more interesting? The different changes in the vocals are great too - it helpschangethe dynamic. Nice work.

Give me a cocktail and a lawn chair

Very airy and feel good. Like the subtle vocal harmonies and chorus-y guitar. This track has summer written all over it.

Nice song,

The voices are ok. The song is ok, the voices are cool, but the instruments are a bit annoying. The guitars are ok as well.

Courtship of Eddies Father

I have to say it when it hits me.... This tune (although not horrible)kind of reeked of a 70's sitcom. The lyrics aren't terrible and the harmonies fit that era well. I thought it was kind of "folksy"...with no real hooks or changes that would change the dynamics a little...and they could have used more than none. Guitars are rhythmic and right on with the drums

Review

Has an alternative feel to it. Vocals and music fit well - kinda reminds me of toad the wet sprocket

Nice groove

-When it started I thought I was going to hear Blackbird for a moment

-The whole song has a pleasant feel to everything

-Very chill verses, I dig the way everything moves up together

-Vocalist has a unique quality to his voice, a little Smashmouth, but I'll get past it

-Bass seems a little unnatural when hitting the eights

-Guitars are done really well; I think they may be one of the best parts of the song
