Dr. Dwayne Melvin Crew is Associate Vice President for Business and Finance at FortValleyStateUniversity in Fort Valley, Georgia, a position he has held since April 2008. He is also vice chair for Professional Development for the Georgia State Council’s Society of Human Resource Management State Council. From May 2005 to October 2005, Dr. Crew served as the interim chief of campus police at FortValleyStateUniversity. Other positions held at FortValleyStateUniversity include Human Resource director/Affirmative Action officer and instructor.

Dr. Crew previously served as Human Resource director for Lowndes County Health Services, Inc., in Valdosta, Georgia, and as director of Internal Affairs for the Florida Department of Revenue. From 1990–1996, he was a Special Agent for the Office of Special Investigations, Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, and Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. From 1986–1990, he was the director of Military Police Operations at Avon Park Air Force Base in Florida.

Dr. Crew holds a B.S. in criminal justice administration from ParkUniversity in Parkville, Missouri, and an M.A. in public administration (human resources) from WebsterUniversity in St. Louis, Missouri. He earned his doctorate of business administration-management from ArgosyUniversity in Sarasota, Florida.

Located geographically in the center of Georgia, FortValleyStateUniversity has been identified as the evaluation point for students at SavannahStateUniversity located on the Atlantic Coast of Georgia, and was recently designated as the SAFECenter (animal shelter) for the State of Georgia. The University currently has more than 3,000 students and expects to grow to more than 5,000 students within the next 24 months.

Emergency Management has become a mission priority. The University’s emergency programs and plans must take into consideration safety for the University, city of Fort Valley, and PeachCounty.
