KyCPA recognizes Educators Who Made a Difference
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 8, 2016) - The Kentucky Society of CPAs (KyCPA) recently recognized accounting educators at its Fall Awards Banquet Oct. 28 at the Hyatt Regency, Louisville.
KyCPA asked its members to nominate educators who had made an impact in their lives and careers. KyCPA President Bill Jessee, of Henderman Jessee and Company in Louisville, presented the Educator Who Made a Difference recognition to accounting educators who had been nominated by KyCPA members.
Recipients included:
· Dr. Alan Deck, a professor of accounting at Bellarmine University. Dr. Deck was nominated by Megan Bowyer, of Ernst and Young, Louisville, who credited Deck with recognizing her potential in the classroom and helping develop her career outside of it.
· Jane Wells, an associate professor of accounting at the University of Kentucky. Wells is a KyCPA member who was nominated by Vickie Richardson of Vickie C. Richardson CPA PSC, Mt. Sterling. In her nomination, Richardson said she was inspired by Wells' real-world accounting experience, and touched by Wells' thoughtful encouragement.
Other nominees who did not attend the event include:
· Dr. Holly Rudolph, a professor at Murray State University, who was nominated by Sammie Parsley of Western Crane Services, Bowling Green, who credited Rudolph with helping her choose accounting as a career.
· Betty Brown, a now-retired professor from the University of Louisville; nominated by Bob Patterson of Patterson and Company, Louisville. In his nomination, Patterson cited Brown's encouragement to stick with accounting when he considered changing course.
Also nominated by Megan Bowyer was the late Dr. Richard Schrader, who passed away last year. Dr. Schrader was a professor of accounting and assistant dean at Bellarmine University. He was a KyCPA member and supporter of the Society's accounting careers programs, especially its BASE (Business and Accounting Summer Education) Camp for high schoolers.
