Breaking Dawn
Breaking Dawn made me feel many different emotions throughout the book. The three most prominent emotions felt were happiness, anger, and a feeling of anxiety. One of the reasons for my happiness is that it was a love story, despite their differences they were able to be with each other, even though it was completely unrealistic, both because of the fact that they’re a different species, and that their relationship seems to go so smoothly. The fact that things worked out so nicely I think is what appealed to me the most though. The worst of their problems relationship wise was Edward’s frustrations at not being able to read Bella’s mind, and his constant worry that she’s going to kill herself tripping over her shadow and Bella’s fear of being abandoned by him again, but they easily overcame those issues. One of the strongest emotions I felt during the book was anger. I was angry with Bella for her stupidity. She was constantly trying to push Edward and Jacob, and overall really, the werewolves and vampires, into being friends. They were natural enemies; a friendship between them is not something that could be forced. Then there’s the fact that when she realized she was pregnant, and that the baby was a great danger to her and would probably kill her, she wanted to keep it anyway. Not only was this a danger to her, if she died, Edward would have killed himself. It would have caused grief for everyone in the Cullen family. Also, they had no idea what a partial

human, partial vampire baby would be like It could have been a bloodthirsty, uncontrollable mutant for all she knew, but she decided to keep it anyway. Also, I was angry with Jacob. He knew how much Bella loved Edward, how it was for her to be apart from him, but yet he kept trying to get her to choose him instead. He needed to take a hint and drop it. If he couldn’t handle being friends, he should have told her and moved on with his life. The book made me anxious with not knowing what was going to happen in some of the more stressful situations. For example, while she was pregnant and the baby was growing so fast and was breaking her bones, it made me wonder how she was going to make it through alive. I was happy when Edward managed to save her by turning her to a vampire before her heart stopped beating. Also, when Jacob imprinted on Bella’s baby, Renesme, I couldn’t see how that would work with the species problem, and the length of their lives. It made me happy however, that it united the vampires and the werewolves at last. The last thing that really made me feel anxious was when Renesme was spotted by a vampire from another clan, and they thought that she was an immortal child (a child turned into a vampire, which was against vampire law because they were uncontrollable). When the law enforcers of the vampire world came to decimate the vampire clan because of this belief. I couldn’t see how they’d get out of it without losing someone that they loved. The group was so large, and they took action first, asked questions later.
From the book I learned a lot about love. For example, the love between a mother and child is very strong. A mother would do just about anything to protect her child. In the book, Bella and her family and friends went to stand up to the Volturi (vampire law

enforcers) to protect her baby even though she knew that if it came to a fight, they would lose. Bella found ways for Renesme to live without being found after she was dead. I also learned that if you love someone enough, you’d be willing to change, or work on compromises, for him or her. Although in the book, it was a bit extreme, Bella changing her species, human to a vampire, for Edward so that they could spend forever and eternity together. I learned about Loyalty as well. True friends are willing to stick by your side, no matter what. In the book, friends of the Cullen family united with them to stand up against the Voturi to protect Renesme, even though they too knew that if it came to a fight they’d probably lose.
Breaking Dawn, as well as all of the other books in the Twilight series, wasn’t the best-written book in the world, but it was entertaining enough. Some of the book was very predictable, for example I knew Bella was going to be a vampire by the end of the book. But, the author was able to keep me on my toes as well. There were some surprises and twists that were completely unexpected. When Jacob imprinted on Renesme moments before he was going to tear her apart for example. Also, the book was entertaining. Love and friendships tangled in threads of danger and pain. The combination between all those, the unexpected, and the storyline overall made it a semi-decent written novel for me.
I did enjoy the novel. It was exciting and romantic, There was the gorgeous, some-what dangerous guy, and the ordinary, clumsy girl that end up together forever (quite literally in their situation). I liked it because it wasn’t completely predictable. I hate to always know what’s going to happen. With, as mentioned before, Jacob imprinting on

Bella’s baby, Renesme, It added an interesting and very entertaining twist. The Vampires and werewolves, natural enemies, were united at last. I also like how, in a way, it portrayed how much stronger a person can be when someone they love is in danger. Although in this book it was supernatural strength. Bella, when her family and friend
were in danger from the Volturi, was able to spread her power out to protect all of them in her invisible shield, where before she was only able to protect her own mind.
