AutismMountain Camp

by the Smugglers’ Notch Adaptive Program (SNAP)

SNAP’s Autism Mountain Camp is a five-day day camp for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Campers participate in a variety of fun summer activities, including swimming (pools and reservoirs), kayaking, sailing in Burlington with VT Adaptive Ski & Sport, horseback riding with CHAMP in South Hero, tandem biking on the Burlington Bike Path with VT Adaptive Ski & Sport, rock climbing, arts and crafts, and using the giant swing. Counselors support each camper to reach their full potential in every activity.

Pricing

In addition to the daily SNAP rate, there is a $250 charge for this week of camp. This is to cover the costs of the additional activities. We encourage campers to attend Mountain Camp all five days; however, if you would like to book one or more single days instead of the five-day package, the rate is $75 per day in addition to the daily SNAP rate.

Lunch

Lunch is not included in this package pricing, but on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, hot lunch is available for you to purchase. Because many of our campers have specific dietary needs, we request that you check the lunch menus located in the Resort Information Guide in your room, or at the Guest Service Desk. If your child does not eat the food being served, please pack an appropriate lunch. Because of the day trips to Burlington and South Hero, your child must bring a bag lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Waivers

In addition to the Smugglers’ Notch forms, off-site activities generally require that you sign an additional waiver. The following waivers will need to be singed on the first day of camp.

  • Bike riding waiver
  • Sailing waiver
  • Giant swing waiver
  • Llama Trek waiver

Please be sure to have your family doctor sign the horseback-riding waiver before your visit to Smugglers’ Notch. Bring all waivers with you on your child’s first day of camp.

What to Wear and Bring

Check the schedule each day Campers will need to pack a swimsuit and towel each day for swimming, sailing and kayaking. On the horseback riding day (Wednesday) campers need to wear long pants and closed toed shoes. You can pack a change of clothes (shorts) to change into after horseback riding. Depending on the weather a sweatshirt/fleece and or a rain jacket may be needed.
