Some ideas for the Activity based lessons and Website creation lesson.

We decided in the last meeting to have a website creation lesson.

Note - CM VI has a project : Creating a website for the school - using word processor and converting to html.

This project can be extended in the website creation lesson.

The idea is to provide content for the school websitethrough the activities.

Lesson - Advanced application usage: Activities to reinforce skills in

word/ppt/(audio, video, webcam, scan, digicam, insert into files)

Activity 1: Using webcam, scanner, digicam, insert into files, saving in various formats)

  • Audio ( ex: record a school song or prayer or anything else ....)
  • Video (ex: of sports, classes etc),
  • Scan – (ex: existing photograph
  • Digicam - Photographs of school teachers, children in an event etc.

Save all these in different formats and check the file sizes. Create folder to save the files. Make a backup of the files.

Activity 2: Make banners using autoshapes, wordart and other interesting formatting options.

  • Make banner templates for - sports day, vanmahotsav day etc for various occassions which can be used through the year).

Activity 3: A report/magazine article/story to be given and formatting done with specific instructions.

  • Think of content that can be put on a school website
  • Can insert some of the files from activity 1 in the doc.

(saving in various formats, convert to html )

Activity 4: PPT activity (to be given by Farida) (Ex: About the school, History of school – photographs etc.)

Activity 5: An excel activity in excel lesson can provide various school related tables, charts that can be used in the school website.

There was one more activity - Printing the documents in various formats, mailing, uploading the files, writing on cd, pendrive etc.. - (These can be included in other activities rather than having as a a seperate activity.)

Lesson - Website creation

There are two options – Which one should we use in the lesson ?

  1. Online tools – Ex: google sites
  2. Offline open source tools – Ex: Komposer
