Auditions for “Celtic Journey” 10thJanuary 2008
Sarah Dean, one of Britain’s leading choreographers, is recruiting a large company of local dancers to perform alongside a cast of professional actors, dancers and singers to perform in “Celtic Journey” at the Churchill Theatre Bromley from 16th to 18th April 2009. This will be a unique opportunity for aspiring young performers to be taught by internationally recognised choreographers in a professional production, and to take part in avery exciting show that combines Irish Dance with the rhythms and styles of other national dances from around the world.
Previous knowledge of Irish Dance is not necessary, as training will be given by way of a ten week course of classes and workshops - weekends from 7th February and full time from 6th April. Celtic Journey will also include Spanish dance, Russian dance, American jazz, Classical Ballet and African dance. All classes will be taught by professional experts in the various fields of dance. Everyone will learn and perform the traditional Irish steps.
Introducing “The Celtic Journey” Production Team
Celtic Journey has a fully professional team lead by Sarah Dean, an expert in Irish Dance.
Sarah Dean (Director & Choreographer):– Trained at The Arts Educational School, The DeganSchool of Irish Dance and The McGillSchool of Irish Dance. Sarah is an Irish Dance Champion and former member of the Irish Spirit of the Dance Company. She has choreographed and directed many professional productions.
Tudor Davies (Choreographer): - Appeared in more than twelve West End Musicals before becoming one of Britain’s leading choreographers responsible forScrooge, Jolson, Underneath the Arches, Tommy and many more. Tudor is the Vice Principal of Laine Theatre Arts.
Gerry Zuccarello(Choreographer): - A leading choreographer responsible for six Royal Command Performances and many shows in London and the West End. In addition to his professional work Gerry teaches at Laine Theatre Arts.
Karl Stevens(Choreographer): - Trained at The RoyalAcademy of Dancing. Professional engagements include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium, the original UK tours of Thoroughly Modern Millie and Sunset Boulevard. Karl teaches at Doreen Bird, specialising in musical theatre and classical dance. He also coaches the young stars of the West End’s highly acclaimed musical Billy Elliot.
Audition and Rehearsal Information
Auditions for “Celtic Journey” will take place in Bromley on the 10thJanuary 2009. To audition for a part in the show send the completed Audition Registration Form plus a cheque for £5.00 (payable to DAPA Productions) to Celtic Journey, Churchill Theatre, High Street, Bromley BR1 1HA. Please include a stamped addressed envelope for the return of your audition details.
Audition Workshop and Registration Fee
The £5.00 audition fee also covers the cost of a forty-five minute Irish Dance workshop given by Sarah Dean before the actual audition. You will be told within four days if you have been successful, and will be given a rehearsal schedule. You will then have seven days to confirm your acceptance of the place. Some applicants will be placed on a reserve list, and will be informed within fourteen days as to whether there is a place for them in the production.
Ten Week Training, Intensive Rehearsal Period, and Performances at The Churchill Theatre, Bromley
There will be a ten week training course held at week-ends commencing 7th February 2009, leading to an intensivetwo week rehearsal period commencing 6th April 2009, prior to the show. You will be expected to attend every rehearsal as required, since the training and teaching of these advance dance techniques will progress week by week. The cost of this unique training and the ultimate performance experience will be £145.00. This fee includes all training, instruction, rehearsals, costumes (excluding footwear), and guarantees appearances in a minimum of three performances at the Churchill Theatre Bromley during the week of 13th April 2009.
