Congratulations to the Clinton Arrow Tennis team and their victory over Grenada in the 1st round of playoffs.

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENT:

1.STUDENTS MUST FOLLOW THE DRESS CODE DURING PRESENTATIONS. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND CLASS UNTIL PROPER ATTIRE IS OBTAINED.

2. Teacher grams are here. Students, this is your chance to give a teacher a happy boost. Pick up a teachergram from any teacher's classroom or from E116 and write a note to any teacher, administrator, librarian, cafeteria worker, or counselor to tell them you appreciate something they've done this year. There are large envelopes posted in each hall in which to put your written teachergrams, or can deliver them to E116. Teachergrams will be available through April 26 and will be delivered to your teachers on May 7. Best of all.....they're FREE!

3.Digital Media Technology 1 will meet at the Career Complex today. Please get on the shuttle bus at 1:50 pm.

4.NHS students: 32 students are needed to sign up for Concession work on May 4 - 5 at Traceway Soccer fields. Come by to sign up for this or other projects in W207.

5.Attaché will perform their competition show for the high school student body Friday, April 19th during homeroom. Everyone is welcome! Admission will be $2 at the door.

6.ANCHOR CLUB: Don't forget about the sing-a-long at Jackson Run this Thursday at 6:00! See Mrs. Berry to sign up or for directions.

7.Attention Girls: Try-outs for the 2013-2014 Lady Arrow Basketball Team will be held Wednesday, May 8th, and Thursday, May 9th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the CHS gym. You must have a signed parent consent form in order to tryout. You may pick up consent forms from the front office, and sign up in room W114. If you have any questions, see Coach Lofton-Burton.

8.The history club dinner scheduled for Thursday has been canceled. There were not enough people to sign up.
Also, if you want to go on the field trip, please see Brewer. there are 12 spots left

9.STUDENTS are not allowed to go the computer labs without being accompanied by a teacher. TEACHERS will not be allowed to unlock the computer labs for a student.

10.The Arrow Players will be performing GracelandApril 16th and 19th at 6 pm and Greater TunaApril 16th and 19th at 7:30. Tickets are available for purchase from Mrs. Jiles in the front office. They are $5 each. Please come out and enjoy a night of humor!!

11.Tryouts for the 2013-2014 High School Boys Basketball Team will be held Monday, April 29, and Tuesday, April 30. Tryout times will be 4:00-5:30, both days in the CHS gym. In order to tryout, you must have a physical on file in the athletic office or bring a current physical with you to tryouts. Also, you must have a parent consent form completely filled out with a signature from your parent or guardian. If you are a high school student, you may pick up a parent consent form in the front office of CHS. If you are at Sumner Hill, you may pick up a parent consent form from Coach Tunberg.

12.Calling all CERTIFIED lifeguards! If you are a certified lifeguard and are interesting in lifeguarding at a camp for pediatric cancer patients this summer,please see Mrs. Berry for more information. We'll need lifeguards June 2-June 5.

13.Mother-Daughter Dinner will be on Monday, April 22 in the CHS Cafeteria for Senior Girls. Tickets are $30 for dinner. One ticket will cover you and your mother and/or guardian. Tickets will be sold on Monday, April 15th and Tuesday, April 16th from Mrs. Tompkins and Ms. Nance.

14.ANCHOR CLUB: There are several service projects to sign up for in Mrs. Berry's room. Please do not interrupt a class to sign up! Don't forget that you must have THREE service credits!

15.6th LUNCH-If you do not have a lunch from home or a tray from the cafeteria, you can not sit at a table.

16.CPSD is collecting pre-orders for a Clinton Arrows specialty car tag. The beautiful tag design was created by Computer Graphics Technology teacher Tempress Holly, and features our distinctive red Arrow logo. Tags are $31, and your current tag DOES NOT have to be expired to pre-order one of the Clinton Arrows tags. Tag design, order forms and FAQs are posted on .

17.Do you have books at home that you have outgrown and no longer want? Consider donating to the "Clinton Reads" children's book drive. We are trying to collect 6,000 new or gently used children's books this spring. Donated books will be sorted and given to Clinton students in grades K-5 at the end of the school year, in hopes that kids will read more during the slow summer months. Books may be dropped off at CHS and many other locations around town. Read more here:

18.Senior Announcements and Keepsakes will be delivered on April 18th from 11:30-2:00. Any student not paid in full must pay on this date. If you will not be present, please make arrangements for someone to pay and/or pick up your order. You received a personal letter with the current balance.

19.Interested in being a volleyball manager for the 2013-2014 team? See Coach Denson in between classes or during homeroom to pick up parent consent form/manager info sheet. You must be at ONE day of tryouts with these forms in your hand.

21.Volleyball Tryouts: Tryouts for the 2013-2014 Lady Arrow Volleyball Team will be Monday and Tuesday, April 22-23 at Clinton High School Gym from 4:30-7:30. You will need 4 items: knee pads, Volleyball Try Out Info form, a current physical (within the past year), and the activity permission slip form (all forms must be signed by a parent/guardian). SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS:

SENIORS ONLY - Senior Luau Tickets will go on sell April 22, 24, 26, 29 and May 1 and 3. The tickets will be $50. You will receive a letter with the details about the LUAU with your ticket. The SENIOR LUAU is May 22, 2013, Reservoir Point from 8:00 - Midnight.

GUIDANCE OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Any student that needs a letter of recommendation from their counselor must complete a Counselor Recommendation Packet prior to requesting a recommendation letter. The packet must be fully completed in order for a recommendation letter to be written. Students must allow 5 working days for completion. Please see Mrs. Morgan for a Counselor Recommendation Packet.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The spring semester is here and it is time for graduating seniors to apply for student financial aid.

The Junior Civic League of Clinton is offering a scholarship to a 2013 graduate. Applications are in the Counselor’s office. The deadline is April 19th.

The Kiwanis Club of Clinton is offering two CHS graduating seniors scholarships. One is for $1,000 and the second will be a minimum of $500. Application information can be found in the counseling office. Deadline is April 22nd.

The Mississippi Municipal League (MML) is proud to announce their annual scholarship program. A $2000 scholarship is open to seniors who plan to attend an accredited college in Mississippi. A second $2000 scholarship is restricted to the children or grandchildren of Mississippi Municipal officials and city employees. A third $2000 scholarship is restricted to children or grandchildren of employees or elected officials of Mississippi municipalities that are members of the MMSC Liability Plan or the Workers Compensation Group. Applications are in the Counselor’s office and an essay is required. Deadline is Friday, May 17th.

The Anderson Outreach Community Development Corporation is offering the "2013 Joseph Moore Academic Scholarship". Eligibility requirements are a 3.0 GPA.Deadline is April 30th. For more information and application, come to the Counselor's office.

The Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program, MET, is a joint effort by the school of Education at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and the College of Education of Mississippi State University (MSU) to attract high ability students who want to become mathematics and English teachers and to help meet the needs of new Common Core standards introduced in Mississippi last fall. COLLEGE PREVIEW DAYS

Freshman Friday will be held on Friday, April 19th at Holmes Community College, Ridgeland Campus. Applications are in the Counselor’s Office.

Alcorn State University extends an invitation to students to attend the High School Senior and Community College Sophomore Day on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Visit the campus, receive information regarding financial aid, scholarship opportunities, housing and extracurricular programs. Deadline to notify Alcorn at 1-800-222-6790 is April 12th.

LEADERSHIP AND SUMMER CAMP OPPORTUNITIES

The Fannie Lou Hamer National Institute on Citizenship and Democracy will be conducting a two week-long summer workshopat Jackson State University entitled The Southern Civil Rights Movement: The Pivotal Role of Young People. The Lott Leadership Institute at the University of Mississippi is please to announce that the annual Lott Leadership Institute for High School Students is now taking nominations for the two 2013 sessions. Participants will travel to Washington, DC to participate in discussions with state and national leaders. The cost to the student will be a $100.00 registration fee, $500.00 program fee, cost of textbooks, weekend meals, snacks and spending money.
