The Central District police has successfully solved a case of murder that took place in the night intervening 10/11.06.2008, when in the morning a dead body of a male ( aged about 39 years) wrapped in a bed sheet was found lying by the side of wall of Indraprastha Power House near Delhi Secretariat. On 13.06.2008, two persons namely Pawanjit Singh and Amardeep Singh have been arrested for they had plotted and committed the murder with the help of hired killers.
The deceased used to run a business in the name of ‘Megha Impex’in Jhandewalan for financial services in securing loans from different banks for his clients. Amardeep Singh had also approached the deceased for securing a loan of Rs.1.30 Crores from UCO Bank. The loan had allegedly been sanctioned by the Bank on the basis of manipulated documents, but the final disbursement was awaited. The deceased asked for his commission approximately Rs.40 lacs for the services that he rendered to Amardeep Singh. He had threatened to spill the beans and disclose all the facts to the Bank in case Amardeep Singh does not pay the commission in advance. Amardeep Singh, due to huge financial debt was under pressure from Pawanjit Singh and others to pay them up. He had promised to pay Pawanjit Singh out of the allegedly sanctioned loan amount. Pawanjit Singh, also did not want that the loan be cancelled. Therefore, Amardeep Singh and Pawanjeet Singh hatched a plan to eliminate Ashok Kumar Sharma, the deceased. As per the plan, they hired contract killers.
On 10.06.2008 Amardeep Singh spent the whole day with the deceased to persuade him not to disclose the facts of manipulated documents to the Bank but he insisted that he should be paid up before the disbursement of the loan amount. On the same night, he accompanied the deceased on the Metro train from Jhandewalan to Metro Station, District Centre, Janak Puri. As per the plan, the deceased was offered the lift from there to his house in the Ford Fiesta car of Pawanjit Singh who was waiting there with the contract killers. Pawanjit Singh drove the car, Amardeep Singh sat on the front seat of the car, and the deceased sat on the rear seat with the contract killers. After some distance the deceased was attacked with a knife and his throat was slit in the car. The killers then took the dead body in the same vehicle and dumped it by the side of wall of Indraprastha Power House, Ring Road. The weapon of offence and the Ford Fiesta car used in the offence have been recovered. Also raids are being conducted to apprehend the hired killers. Investigation of the case is in progress.
