Aim:
The aim of this post is to deliver the Making Waves project, as laid out in the project’s detailed Activity Plan. Making Waves is a three-year marine awareness and outreach project that seeks to re-connect the communities of East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight with the sea as an amazing source of biodiversity.
While focusing mainly on delivery in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the postholder will work very closely with the Making Waves Project Officer at Sussex Wildlife Trust to ensure an integrated marine awareness and outreach programme across the entire project area. Furthermore, the postholder will take the lead in developing those aspects of the joint project relating to community engagement, and will support the Sussex Project Officer with the delivery of these aspects in their area. The Project Officers will work together on project reporting and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
1) To develop and deliver selected aspects of the Making Waves project, including:
§  An extensive programme of public events.
§  High-quality interpretation materials including pop-up displays, leaflets and other materials.
§  Educational boat trips.
§  A marine learning conference.
§ 
2) With the support of the Making Waves Officer in Sussex, to deliver selected aspects of the project, including
§  A marine outreach programme for schools, including talks to school assemblies, school workshops and online workshops/events.
§  A programme of training for teachers, group-leaders, volunteers and staff.
3) Working with the Making Waves Project Officer in Sussex, to:
§  Develop relationships with key project partners (e.g. Chichester Harbour Conservancy) and involve them in delivery of the project.
§  Consult with stakeholders to guide the development of the project.
§  Develop new volunteering opportunities, and recruit and manage volunteers.
§  Report on progress to the joint Project Steering Group.
§  Collate relevant information for project evaluation and reporting.
4) Additionally:
§  Undertake other duties commensurate with the post or as may from time to time be determined by the Head of Living Seas or the Chief Executive.
§  Promote the Wildlife Trusts and, in particular, seek to recruit new members.
§  Abide by appropriate Wildlife Trust policies.
