WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING FOR?

The Rotary Club of Lake Elsinore sponsors many youth programs in the community and needs your support to expand existing activities and initiate new ones. The following list describes the club's current programs:

  • RYLA – Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is a 3 day camp at Crestline that encourages servant leadership in youth by recognizing and rewarding deserving 11th grade students who are chosen to attend RYLA as an "award" for their past and present leadership and service activities.
  • PRYDE - Personal Rotary Youth Development Experience is a two-day retreat for outstanding 7th grade students to further develop their leadership skills. It combines training in a casual, relaxed atmosphere with social and fun time to provide a fast-paced and memorable leadership experience.
  • Dictionary Program – Each year, Rotary Club of Lake Elsinore distributes dictionaries to every 3rd grader in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District.
  • Music Competition - Rotary Music Competition provides an introductory platform for high school musicians to perform and, for many, advance their career opportunities. These guidelines govern all competition levels for three categories: Pianist, Vocalist, and Instrumentalist.
  • Four Way Speech Contest - Speeches are crafted by the high school students on various subjects, but the speech must include the Rotary Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do: 1st - Is it the truth? 2nd - Is it fair to all concerned? 3rd - Will it build goodwill and better friendships? 4th - Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
  • Scholarships – Each year, our club provides 4 - $1,000 scholarships to deserving students who embrace the best qualities of scholastics, citizenship and service.
  • Rotary Youth Exchange Program –Rotary Club of Lake Elsinore seeks out and sponsors local (outbound) students to spend a year overseas in a remarkable, life-changing experience, and hosts one or more foreign (inbound) students for a year in our community. This year, we sponsored 2 inbound and 3 outbound students.
  • International Campout – Over twenty high school students visiting from across the globe all meet at the Sunset Ranch located in the Ortega Mountains just west of Lake Elsinore. At the 3 day-long event, students who are visiting from abroad through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program and students from local Rotary Interact Clubs come together to learn about other cultures and share their experiences.
  • Career Day & Job Shadow – As business leaders in our community, we provide unique insight into potential careers for high school students at the annual Career Day held at the Lake Elsinore Outlets. For those who are interested in actual hands-on experience, students may arrange visits to places of business on a regular basis.
  • Mentoring Program – A more intense version of the Job Shadow allows students to be mentored by seasoned professionals. This program potentially can lead to a student's first job experience...a stepping stone to a meaningful career.
  • Interact Club – Interact is a service club for youth ages 14-18. Clubs benefit from sponsorship by individual Rotary clubs, which provide support and guidance. Interact as a membership of over 250,000 youth in more than 11,000 clubs worldwide. It’s one ofRotary’s fastest growing programs. Lake Elsinore has Interact Clubs at Lakeside High, Temescal Canyon High and Ortega High.
  • AVID Program -AVID Secondary (grades 7-12) develops learning, study and academic behavioral skills that are essential to success in rigorous coursework. It acts as a catalyst for schools to develop a culture of college readiness for all students across the campus. In the AVID Elective class, students receive daily instruction and support to prepare them for college from a trained AVID Elective teacher.
