From The Pastors Desk:
For the past few years, February and March have been seasons of evangelism for Stewartsville Baptist. We have had our FAITH Sunday School Evangelism Training, we had had great evangelists come to our church, and last year we had the group, Jeremiah People, come and present a powerful Broadway style musical that was Christ centered and challenged those present with their need to be born again. This year looks like it will be no less evangelistic than previous years. Our new semester in FAITH evangelism training has started off with about 11 first time participants. We have the Jeremiah People returning on February 11 and a wonderfully gifted evangelist, Sam Cathey, will be with us for our revival services March 18-21.
As we approach these important events, I ask you to do two things. One, I ask you to clear your schedule and plan to be here for these events. These events are important and will strengthen your faith in Christ. Two, I ask you to bring others with you who need Christ. One of the main reasons we take the time and money to have ministries like these come to our church is because we believe people need to come to Christ. Without Jesus, the Bible says we will spend eternity in the torment of hell. However, through faith in Him we can have our sins forgiven, our lives changed and be granted the promise of eternity in heaven. We believe the best way to get these needy souls under the sound of the Gospel is for YOU to bring them. Don’t wait for others or sit back thinking
“Someone else will do it.” If you are a believer, then the unsaved that you know are depending on you to bring them to Christ. So be praying about who you will invite and then take the next step and invite them! It may change their life for eternity!
I want to share a short story with you that I read recently. You may remember it happened in May of 2002.
May 26, 2002, Memorial Day weekend, a barge pilot passed out and hit a bridge span of I-40 over the Arkansas River. This accident dropped a 600 foot span of the bridge 62 feet into the swift flowing river below. Eleven people (and a trailer full of show horses) died as their cars and 18-wheelers dove over the edge of the missing span, one piling on top of another. There were several fishermen on the river in a bass competition, who saw the bridge collapse. Realizing that the cars and trucks were still coming, one of the fishermen below the bridge reached into his boats’ emergency kit for the emergency flare. Whipping the flare up into firing position, the fisherman let the missile fly; up, up, and over the edge of the last standing bridge span. That one flare providentially hit the windshield of the next 18-wheeler speeding down I-40 at 70 miles an hour. The shocked driver hit his brakes, and his front tires slid over the drop-off; putting his truck into reverse, he pulled his wheels back up onto the bridge, warning the other drivers. Another boat of fishermen saw a man under the damaged barge, who was holding on for dear life, and got a floatation device to him and pulled him into their boat, affecting the rescue. One man’s (the river pilot) error resulted in the death of many (eleven people died); one man’s quick thinking and action (the fisherman) saved the lives of many. The continued action of other fishermen, saved the life of one who was savable, but sinking. You have an emergency flare (the Gospel) in your emergency kit; will you pull it out to save the lives of others? Seeing people sinking down, about to go under will you throw them a life saver (Jesus)? Or are you afraid someone will think you silly or stupid for firing a flare or throwing a life savior?

Broadway style musical presentation
by
The Jeremiah People
February 11 7pm
There is a saying, “Music touches the soul.” In addition, Drama and Theatre provide a different perspective to the commonplace, challenging the audience to confront previously unaddressed issues. With the exact fusion of the two medias, the Jeremiah People effectively present a powerful message that ministers to the soul, while providing an unusual perspective to today’s life issues affecting both Christians and non-believers.
The Jeremiah People have wowed audiences for nearly 30 years with their unique style of music, laughter and drama. In their years of ministry service they have brought hard-hitting gospel presentations to millions, healing to families, inspiration to youth, and loving hearts to elderly. Jeremiah People perform in churches, theatres, and auditoriums in nearly 45 states in the nine months that they are commissioned.
The mission of the Jeremiah People is to inspire the church, energize the family and challenge believers and non-believers alike with the message of Hope found in Jesus Christ. With their Broadway-style full-length musicals, humorous sketches, professional choreography, and powerful voices, the Jeremiah People truly present a performance for all ages.
Under the production management of Colin Hearn, the Jeremiah People will be ministering all across America again this season. In their 2006-2007 season, and In honor of the Continental’s 40th year in ministry, the Jeremiah People are bringing back a favorite of many, Dear Diary.
The audience will witness teen-ager Billie’s grades falling off, and watch as her parents begin to ride her in an attempt to get to the bottom of the sudden change. Her mother nags and compares Billie to her sister, her father is usually someplace else, and her boyfriend begins pushing for her to “prove her love”. Her outspoken grandma is a woman of faith and makes no bones about it. In the midst of the furor, whether at school or home, Billie speaks to her diary. Her pressures become so strong, she contemplates suicide. A family trial, an attempt to run away, and a happy ending gives this two-act script strong motivation and Christian conviction.
There's a seminary director out in the East coast. His wife died of Alzheimer's. And I remember him at a Campus Crusade conference saying, "All of my married life this woman loved me and cared for me and looked after me. She was my crown and my praise and now her mind is gone." And he's talking to these Crusade kids about commitment to your mate and he says, "My wife is dying." He said, "I bathe my wife. I change my wife. My wife is in diapers." And he said, "I consider it the greatest privilege of God that now I can do for this woman what she has done for me to be devoted to me."

I don't care what they say about men and women being alike. Jesus said, "God made them male and God made them female" (Matthew 19:4). When a man gets hurt, he gets offended. He'll get angry. But when you hurt your wife, they're different. Peter put it like this, "Husbands live with your wives as unto knowledge" - meaning don't be dumb - "as with a weaker" - not meaning lesser - but it means a weaker "vessel" like porcelain. You handle her delicately. Grant her honor "...as a fellow heir in the grace of life that your prayers may not be hindered" (I Peter 3:7). Fellas you can't do this with your wife. They are gentle creatures. TOMMY NELSON

Child Dedication
February 4
8:30am and 11am services
Parent-Child Dedication is a special event at Stewartsville Baptist Church. This special time of commitment is for parents to dedicate their child to the loving care and keeping of the Lord. In so doing, they are committing themselves to the maintenance of a Christian home where Christ is the center of that home, and the Word of God is part of their daily lives. They are actually dedicating themselves to raise their baby for the Lord. If you would like to be a participant in the upcoming dedication service, you can register by calling the church at 277-0077. Invite your relatives, loved ones, and special friends to share in this memorable event of your family’s life.

Global Outreach Team February Up-Date
Our dates have changed for the Brazil mission trip, but your financial and prayer support is still desperately needed!
Here is an overview-
During week 1 (June 8-15), our group of 15 youth and adults will join a larger group of over 100 people called World Changers International. World Changers International is an organization sponsored by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. World Changers International seeks to provide Christian youth and adults with opportunities to meet the physical and spiritual needs of others through practical learning experiences that teach servanthood and personal commitment to missions. Our team will be working in three very poor neighborhoods in Salvador: Cajazeiras, Castelo Branco and Fazenda Grande. We will share the Gospel while building and repairing homes, and visiting public schools.
During week 2 (June 16-25), our 25 team members will work in public places in a middle to upper-class sector of the city to reach people for Christ and start a new church. They will use singing, skits, mimes, puppets, sports, cooking, testimonies, etc. to evangelize. Through these unique methods, we hope to reach middle-class, secular, post-modern teens and young people with the goal of starting a church among this sector of Salvador that has over 100,000 people.
Salvador is a mega-city of about 9 million people located next to the Atlantic Ocean. Humidity and heat are constants, but the heat is moderated by a breeze from the ocean. The main religion is cultural Catholicism, but their worldview is strongly influenced by African voodoo-like cults and spiritism. The New-age movement finds fertile soil here too. Evangelicals make up only 7% of the city's population.
We seek to join God in what He is already doing, to join with churches in Salvador to plant churches in neighborhoods, and to accelerate the evangelization of the people in Salvador. Join us in praying for the people of Salvador and for the following missionaries we will be working with: Pastor Norton Lages and wife Tatiana, IMB missionaries Danny and Nancy Callis, IWC Project Coordinator, Rob Cain.
