Sub Committee Preference Sheet

The following descriptions are provided for a better understanding of each sub-co, please read the following and then turn in the last two pages.

Discussion Group (DG):

DG leaders will be paired into groups (1 boy, 1 girl) and will be responsible for a group of ten to fifteen participants. DG leaders work together, play ice breaker games, and inform the participants about Texas A&M or college in general. They must represent Texas A&M in everything they do, while providing a fun, exciting, and comfortable atmosphere for the participants. DG leaders also work with DG buddies* who are assigned to assist them with anything that they may need assistance with. DG leaders must be with their DG’s at all times, and they are responsible for making sure their participants are with them at all times by doing attendance checks. Before conference DG leaders must create a Bio sheet, DG name sheet, poster board, and prepare a run out!

Mixer Entertainment Design (MED):

Members of the MED sub-co will help with some of the most creative aspects of conferences. They will be in charge of setting up the mixer, music at the conference, being in performance skits, and painting the DG banners for conference. MED, like DG, is a more direct way of interacting with participants during conferences. MED is an excellent place to channel your creativity during the ARC conferences. Even if you feel shy or prefer not to work with skits, this is an outstanding chance to express your artistic, creative, and fun side that we all know you have!Tracing Day is February 9th and it’s a mandatory event for everybody in MED.

Registration:

As a member of the registration sub-co, you will assist in the check-in and check-out process during the conferences. You are the first committee member the participant will have contact with, so it’s important to have a positive attitude and set the tone for the conference. Tasks prior to the conference will include making the welcome bags for participants and making confirmation calls to participants.

Housing:

The housing sub-co will consist of finding ways to get more hosts for the SEAL and Whoopin’ Weekend conferences. Their job is to get students excited about hosting potential Aggies and sharing their stories with the participants. The sub-co will make flyers, go to the dorms to hand out host applications and spread the word about being a host to the Texas A&M campus. Members of the housing sub-co will also speak to other organizations such as FLO’s about being host for our conferences. During the conferences, the housing sub-co is in charge of keeping track of the participants’ luggage and walking them to and from their dorms in the morning and at the end of the day. During conference, a participant's host plays a huge role in the success of the participant's weekend. It is up to the housing sub-co to find students that will make this experience as enjoyable as possible for the high school participants.

Social and Service:

The social and service sub-co will be responsible for planning and executing social and service events for ARC. They will also be responsible for raising funds for the committee by having fundraisers and profit shares. Additionally, the social and service sub-co will be in charge of ARC’s intermural teams. During conference, the members of the social and service sub-co will serve as helping hands. They will be responsible for serving food, setting up and hosting games during the luau, giving MSC and Campus tours, and being photographers for the committee.

*There will be the opportunity to sign up to be a DG Buddy! A DG buddy is assigned to a DG to assist the DG leaders and enhance the general experience of the DG. You will have time during conference to participate with your DG when you are not busy with your perspective sub-committee.
