A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE SINCERE APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO THEIR GOOD FRIEND, WADE A. “BUBBA” GREEN OF RICHLAND COUNTY, FOR HIS MORE THAN TWENTYSEVEN YEARS OF DEDICATION AND DEVOTED SERVICE AS SENIOR DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS FOR CLEMSON UNIVERSITY AND WISHING HIM ABUNDANT HAPPINESS UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT ON JUNE 30, 1999.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate note with mixed feelings the decision of Wade A. “Bubba” Green to retire after thirtytwo years of public service in state government; and
Whereas, these mixed feelings arise because “Bubba” Green’s retirement will be a great loss to Clemson University and the people of this great State; and
Whereas, “Bubba” Green served his country honorably in the Vietnam War and is currently a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard; and
Whereas, “Bubba” Green began his illustrious career at Clemson University on March 1, 1972. He previously was employed as the lobbyist for the South Carolina Municipal Association; and
Whereas, “Bubba” Green has been an integral part of Clemson University through its tremendous growth and development. During his tenure at Clemson, he has ably served under six different presidents; and
Whereas, “Bubba” Green has been instrumental in securing funding for every academic and research facility at Clemson University since 1972; and
Whereas, through “Bubba” Green’s lobbying efforts, the many programs funded for Clemson University by the South Carolina General Assembly have touched the lives of many citizens in the Palmetto State; and
Whereas, his working knowledge of Clemson University and its history is surpassed by none – it is as vast and far reaching as the University itself; and
Whereas, he is the goodwill ambassador for Clemson University and through his commitment and assistance many students have found their way to and through Clemson University; and
Whereas, “Bubba” Green is well known and highly regarded as a true southern gentleman, who has always gone the extra mile to accommodate the citizens of the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, as a representative of Clemson University, “Bubba” Green has never compromised on honesty and integrity in his work with every branch of state government; and
Whereas, “Bubba” has always been the ultimate “ticketman” for the Clemson Tigers. He could manage to find “two more tickets for the USC versus Clemson game” when no one else could; and
Whereas, his accommodating manner at football games, special events, dinners, and receptions has consistently made folks feel proud to be involved with Clemson University; and
Whereas, “The Bubba” possesses the title as the longest serving lobbyist at the State House; and
Whereas, “Bubba” Green’s blood runneth orange as he has given his heart and soul to Clemson University; and
Whereas, it is with great pride that we pause in our deliberations to honor this distinguished South Carolinian, Wade A. “Bubba” Green and offer a special thank you for all his years of faithful public service. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate hereby express sincere appreciation and gratitude to their good friend, Wade A. “Bubba” Green of Richland County, for his more than twentyseven years of dedication and devoted service as Senior Director of Governmental Relations for Clemson University and wishing him abundant happiness upon the occasion of his retirement on June 30, 1999.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Wade A. “Bubba” Green.
