XAVIER HIGH SCHOOLSUMMER READING 2017
The summer reading assignments are intended to:
- Encourage students to continue their learning throughout the summer by identifying thought-provoking reading for their enjoyment;
- Prepare students for the content and emphases of their upcoming courses
- Serve as material for classroom discussion and analysis when students return to class in the fall.
Although there are no written assignments attached to these readings, students should expect to be assessed on these readings when they return in the fall. Assessments can include objective/subjective quizzes or tests, papers, in-class discussions and/or other forms of assessments as determined by the classroom teacher. Questions on the mid-term examinations can also include information from summer reading. For this reason, students should read the assigned material closely and mindfully—using the skills and approaches they have learned in previous courses.
