Salary / £28,644 - £32,613 (pro-rata if part-time) + Performance Bonus + 3% Pension
Hours / Full Time 35.5 Hours per week - or - 3 days (flexible hours ) pro rata
General / You will have an exciting opportunity to influence the growth of Venture Scotland. Working closely with the CE and as part of the management team, you will play a key role in securing sufficient income to grow our Edinburgh and Glasgow capability and realise our goal to open 4 new centres, benefitting a total of 400 Journey Graduates across Venture Scotland per annum, by 31st March 2018.
Venture Scotland has been a leading provider of outdoor personal development programmes for vulnerable young people for more than 26 years. We provide a unique long-term ‘Journey’ programme (12 months duration) that routinely achieves profound transformational change for young people in the most need. When young people start the Journey they are at the point in their lives when they are asking for help to overcome drug/alcohol dependency, offending, homelessness or mental health problems. We help each individual to achieve their goal and get into employment, education or training.
Over the years, we have enjoyed good success attracting a range of statutory and other grants and trust funds, especially from some of the most established trust fund providers with whom we have excellent relationships. Over the next 3 years, we looking add to our funding base by training and supporting our local programme staff to attract more locally sourced income.
We are currently in the first year (2015) as the main charity beneficiary for the Glencoe Marathon. It is an exciting new partnership with Scotland’s premier outdoor event company Wildfox Events. Your job will include overseeing the development of this new fundraising project.
You will also be required to:
a)  annually secure unrestricted income equivalent to 2.5 times your salary cost.
b)  oversee the growth and development of our fundraising strategy.
c)  provide training and support to help staff develop their fundraising skills.
Performance Bonus / You will receive a performance bonus on all income in excess of the minimum requirement - see point a) above. This bonus applies to income that you have played the lead role in, including income secured by staff that you have trained, and will be paid on the basis of 2.5% for restricted income (e.g. trusts, corporate sponsorship and grants) and 5% on unrestricted donor income.

Area / Essential / Desirable
Experience / ·  3 – 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, corporate sales or similar
·  Experience of setting, monitoring and achieving targets
·  Previous relevant experience of developing and maintaining relationships
·  Experience of building relationships with corporate decision-makers
·  Experience training and supporting staff development / ·  Relevant experience
of corporate sales or marketing and/or fundraising in a corporate environment
·  Experience of working with volunteers
·  Managing others
·  Experience of dealing with the media
Achievements / ·  Proven track record of successful trust and grant fundraising or securing contract tenders / ·  Proven track record of successful business development/sales/marketing
Qualifications / ·  A good standard of education / ·  Educated to graduate level
·  Membership of the Institute of Fundraising
