Grades
Breakdown:
50% Tests
50% Labs* / Quizzes / Daily / Stamp Sheets**
*all lab grades will count double
**Stamp Sheets will be checked at the 3rd week and 6th week intervals
Students are expected to do their own assignments and neatly show all work.
NO WORK = NO CREDIT. Late work will be taken the next day for reduced grade (max grade 50 for stamp grades, 70 for all others). Late work will not be taken any later. Students may earn the opportunity to drop one low quiz grade each six weeks (see above).
Grades on Skyward (the Grade Portal) will be updated every Monday.
Retest Policy:
Students may have one retest per 6 weeks. The retest will be given near the end of the six weeks, on one given day as appointed by the instructor. The student must attend a tutorial before being allowed a retest. The retest will cover all material covered during that 6 week period. The retest grade will replace only one test grade. It is possible to make a grade of 80% on the retest. If the student makes a 100% on the retest, they will be given an 85%. It is the students responsibility to take care of all business involved in taking the retest.
Absence
If a student is absent, it is the student’s responsibility to get the notes and work missed while absent from Mr. Hibbetts either during or after school. When a student has missed a previous class period, they are to speak with Mr. Hibbetts before the bell rings for the current class begins. It is recommended that they come for tutoring on the day they return from absence (see below). Any labs missed MUST be made up in tutorials or an alternative assignment must be completed. Students will have a number of days plus one equal to the amount of days missed to complete any missed assignments.
Tutoring
In school tutoring will take place during “B lunch” on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Mr. Hibbetts will be available after school 3:45 to 4:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. I can available other times if given prior notice. It is the student’s responsibility to get any passes for tutoring. Students should come to tutoring prepared to work, students that are unprepared or not working will be asked to leave.
Extra Credit
Extra credit may be assigned at Mr. Hibbetts’ discretion. The time to ask about it is during tutorial times, not during class. Extra credit will only be allowed if the student has turned in all assignments during the six weeks. Extra credit will NOT be issued on the final 3 days of the six weeks.
