Throne of David
Connect the Dots
- A Messiah will come to redeem mankind, destroy Satan(Gen3:15)
- The Messiah will come through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (Israel)(Gen 12-17)
- The Messiah will come through the tribe of Judah(Gen 49:8-10)
- The Messiah will come through the family of David(2 Samuel 7)
- The Messiah will rule in Zion forever(Psalm 132:10-14)
- The Messiah will come through a virgin (Isaiah 7:14)
- The Messiah will be both human and divine(Isaiah 9:6-9)
- The Messiah recognized & blessed by some in Israel(Mark 11:7)
- Jesus challenged their understanding of Messiah(Mark 12:35-37)
- Messiah will be nailed to a cross by pre-determined plan of God (Acts 2:22-23)
Messiah, Jesus, will be the Savior of Israel(Acts 13:20:23)

Messiah seated on the right hand of the Father(Rev 12:5) - There will be a LAPSE of time, no one sitting on David’s throne (Acts 15:15-19)
Messiah will bring Israel back to her land, rebuild it(Amos 9:11-12, 14-15)
Messiah determines who enters His Kingdom(Rev 3:7) - Messiah opens the scroll of judgment, execute justice on the earth(Rev 5:4-10)
- There will be a time of Jacob’s (Israel’s) Distress(Jeremiah 30:5-7,9)
- Israel will again seek her God & King (Messiah)(Hosea 3:4-5)
- Messiah will return and save Judah first(Zech 12:7-8)
Messiah will cleanse Israel from sin(Zech 13:1)
Israel will dwell in safety(Jer 33:14-17) - God’s covenant with David will NEVER be broken(Jer 33:20-21, 25-26)

Messiah will stand in Jerusalem as King over all the earth(Zech 14:3-4, 9) - God will gather His scattered people and make them 1 nation(Ezek 37:21-22)

- The 12 apostles will rule over 12 tribes of Israel(Mt 19:27-28)
- The Church will reign upon the earth also(Rev 5:10)

The Messiah will come through the family of David 2 Samuel 7
The Messiah will rule in Zion foreverPsalm 132:10-14
For the sake of David Your servant, Do not turn away the face of Your anointed. 11 The Lord has sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back: “Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne. 12 “If your sons will keep My covenant And My testimony which I will teach them, Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forever.” 13 For the Lord has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation. 14 “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
The Messiah will come through a virgin, named ImmanuelIsaiah 7:13-14
Then he said, “Listen now, O house of David! Is it too slight a thing for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God as well 14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.31 “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. 32 “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; 33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”

Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2 which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh,
The Messiah will be both human and divineIsaiah 9:6-9
For a child will be born to us(human), a son will be given to us (Divine); And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.8 The Lord sends a message against Jacob, And it falls on Israel. 9 And all the people know it, That is, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, Asserting in pride and in arrogance of heart:

Messiah recognized and blessed by some in IsraelMark 11:7-10
They brought the colt to Jesus and put their coats on it; and He sat on it. 8 And many spread their coats in the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields. 9 Those who went in front and those who followed were shouting: “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord; 10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David; Hosanna in the highest!”
Jesus challenged their understanding of the MessiahMark 12:35-37
And Jesus began to say, as He taught in the temple, “How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? 36 “David himself said in the Holy Spirit, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Until I put Your enemies beneath Your feet.” ’ 37 “David himself calls Him ‘Lord’; so in what sense is He his son?” And the large crowd enjoyed listening to Him.
Messiah would be crucified by the predetermined plan of GodActs 2:22-23
“Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know— 23 this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.
Messiah would be Israel’s SaviorActs 13:20-23

Messiah would die, but quickly raised from the dead (accepted)Acts 13:30-32, 34
“But God raised Him from the dead; 31 and for many days He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now His witnesses to the people. 32 “And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers, …34 “As for the fact that He raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: ‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.’
Messiah would be seated with GodRevelation 12:5
And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her (Israel’s) child was caught up to God and to His throne.
There will be a LAPSE of time; No one sitting on David’s throneActs 15:15-19
“With this the words of the Prophets agree, just as it is written, 16 ‘After these things I will return, And I will rebuild the tabernacle of David which has fallen, And I will rebuild its ruins, And I will restore it, 17 So that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,’ 18 Says the Lord, who makes these things known from long ago. 19 “Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning to God from among the Gentiles,
Messiah will bring Israel back to her land, rebuild itAmos 9:11-12, 14-15
“In that day I will raise up the fallen booth of David, And wall up its breaches; I will also raise up its ruins And rebuild it as in the days of old; 12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom And all the nations who are called by My name,” Declares the Lord who does this…14 “Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, And they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, And make gardens and eat their fruit. 15 “I will also plant them on their land, And they will not again be rooted out from their land Which I have given them,” Says the Lord your God.
Messiah determines who enters His KingdomRevelation 3:7
“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says this:
Messiah opens the scroll to execute justice on the earthRevelation 5:4-10
Then I began to weep greatly because no one was found worthy to open the book or to look into it; 5 and one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.” 6 And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. 7 And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne. 8 When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. 10 “You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.”
There will be a time of Jacob’s (Israel’s) DistressJeremiah 30:5-7, 9
“For thus says the Lord, ‘I have heard a sound of terror, Of dread, and there is no peace. 6 ‘Ask now, and see If a male can give birth. Why do I see every man With his hands on his loins, as a woman in childbirth? And why have all faces turned pale? 7 ‘Alas! for that day is great, There is none like it; And it is the time of Jacob’s distress, But he will be saved from it. …9 ‘But they shall serve the Lord their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.
Israel will again seek her God & KingHosea 3:4-5
For the sons of Israel will remain for many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar and without ephod or household idols. 5 Afterward the sons of Israel will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king; and they will come trembling to the Lord and to His goodness in the last days.
Messiah will return and save Judah firstZechariah 12:7-8
“The Lord also will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be magnified above Judah. 8 “In that day the Lord will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the Lord before them.
Messiah will cleanse Israel from sinZechariah 13:1
“In that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity.
Israel will dwell in safetyJeremiah 33:14-17
‘Behold, days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good word which I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 15 ‘In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth. 16 ‘In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell in safety; and this is the name by which she will be called: the Lord is our righteousness.’ 17 “For thus says the Lord, ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;
God’s covenant with David will NEVER be brokenJeremiah 33:20-21, 25-26
“Thus says the Lord, ‘If you can break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night will not be at their appointed time, 21 then My covenant may also be broken with David My servant so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers….25 “Thus says the Lord, ‘If My covenant for day and night stand not, and the fixed patterns of heaven and earth I have not established, 26 then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, not taking from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But I will restore their fortunes and will have mercy on them.’ ”
Messiah will fight His enemiesRevelation 19:11-13, 16
And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. 13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God…16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Messiah will stand in Jerusalem as King over all the earthZechariah 14:3-4, 9
Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle. 4 In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south….9 And the Lord will be king over all the earth; in that day the Lord will be the only one, and His name the only one.
God will gather his scattered people and make them 1 nationEzekiel 37:21-22
“Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Behold, I will take the sons of Israel from among the nations where they have gone, and I will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel; and one king will be king for all of them; and they will no longer be two nations and no longer be divided into two kingdoms.
King David will rule over IsraelEzekiel 37:23-28
“They will no longer defile themselves with their idols, or with their detestable things, or with any of their transgressions; but I will deliver them from all their dwelling places in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them. And they will be My people, and I will be their God.24 “My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd; and they will walk in My ordinances and keep My statutes and observe them. 25 “They will live on the land that I gave to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers lived; and they will live on it, they, and their sons and their sons’ sons, forever; and David My servant will be their prince forever. 26 “I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant with them. And I will place them and multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in their midst forever. 27 “My dwelling place also will be with them; and I will be their God, and they will be My people. 28 “And the nations will know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forever.” ’ ”
