Based on your own knowledge and the faculty member’s self-report, please comment on the faculty member's activities in the period under review. Specifically, evaluate the following: teaching and student advising, scholarly activities, department and college service, and activities outside the college.

You do not need to fully summarize the contents of a faculty member’s self-report; we will have access to the form. Instead, consider and report on how the faculty member’s work compares in quality, quantity or other relevant indicators to that of other members of the department or program and/or to other years in which the individual’s work was reviewed.

At the end of your evaluation, please provide a recommendation of standard merit, standard merit plus an extraordinary merit award, partial merit, or no merit. Again, your recommendation should be based on the faculty member’s performance compared to that of others in the department. Understandably, faculty members may have different areas of strength or accomplishment. You will need to weigh the relative merits in making your overall recommendation. Keep in mind that extraordinary merit is intended to reward distinguished performance and accomplishment.
