Catlow on a project entitled "Development of facilities for the study of catalysis and catalytic process by in situ neutron scattering" co-supervised by Prof. W. I. F. David (ISIS neutron spallation facility, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory).
1995-1996: Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, USA with Prof. K. H. Theopold working on tris(pyrazolyl)hydridoborate complexes of cobalt (I) and (II) for homogenous oxidation catalysis.
1991-1995: D.Phil student with Prof. M. L. H. Green FRS. Thesis title: Studies in the chemistry of new forms of carbon”
1990-1991: Part II research project with Dr. J. C. Green. Project entitled "Synthesis and electronic structure of a-diimino complexes of the first row transition metals" using HeI/HeII photoelectron spectroscopy for electronic structure elucidation.
