Prayer and Care

Transforming our Worlds through Prayer

Prayer letter for June 3, 2014

Do you ever get distracted while praying? Phew! Good, I’m not the only one. Sometimes we may feel guilty for being distracted – but, in fact, those so-called distractions may be a nudge from the Holy Spirit to make them the substance of our prayer and listening. If they are just the “noise of life” we can write them down for later so we don’t forget to ‘buy bananas on our way home from work.’ On the other hand, if a relationship has gone sideways, we can make that the avenue through which we listen, dialogue, and intercede. Perhaps even now you are being nudged and called to prayer…

Our message this past Sunday was from Romans 5 on “The Justification of God.” If you missed it, you can listen to it on our church’s website – camrosechurchofgod.ca. Here are a few points for reflection and discussion with a friend or bible study group:

·  This chapter highlights the benefits of being justified – peace with God, access to God’s presence, hope of experiencing God’s glory, joy even in suffering, endurance, proven character, hope, and God’s love filling us by the person of the Holy Spirit. Can you take a moment to just thank God for these breathtaking gifts?

·  To be justified is to be seen by God JUST AS IF we had never sinned – our past is forgiven, and God goes on seeing us in His Son Jesus Christ. How do you feel about this kind of “risky grace” from God?

·  Paul hints that there is always more for us to experience…what is one thing you are looking forward to exploring more about God’s grace?

Read ahead in Romans 6 for this coming Sunday. Take note of the number of times Paul speaks of being “with Christ.”

This week we ask you to join in prayer for Louise Louis’ mother, Barb Weisgarber. She underwent a successful bypass surgery last week, and Louise is now with her to support her in her recovery.

We give thanks this week for

·  Dwight Maurer’s steady recovery from surgery a couple of weeks ago

·  Diane Carlson being placed on our staff as permanent Minister of Worship

·  Vanessa Gratrix becoming our Summer Ministry Associate

God has good things in store for these good folks!

The church of Camrose celebrated two milestones this past weekend

·  Pastor Ralph Kassen celebrated 25 years with the Camrose Community Church

·  Calvary Pentecostal Church dedicated their new church facility

It is a privilege to be in ministry together with these fine churches

An excerpt from Colleen Stevenson’s blog: What a day! My CA125 (tumour marker) blood count has dropped -- from 5000+ down to 247. This is so, so amazing! Wow! I am very encouraged and again it shows that positive progression is in process… My spirit rejoices and feels Your presence so strongly. You are awondrousGod and give your childrengood things.

I am in anticipation for the doctor's visit next week because I know that healing is there.

"But for you who fear My name,

the Sun of Righteousness will rise

with healing in His wings.

The following prayer request has come to our office. Please be in prayer for the Ron Bouck family. Ron is the brother to the late Howard Bouck, and son of the late Alan & Jean Bouck.

“Ron Bouck has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor of the esophagus that has also attached itself to his windpipe. Pray for Ron, and his wife Leanne, as they await test results that will indicate whether the cancer has spread. Pray that Ron will experience healing of body and soul.”
