Informational
Brandon Purcell from the CWU Men’s soccer club spoke on behalf of the club. They are wanting to put on a soccer camp for March 22-24 for 3 hours per day over spring break. This soccer camp is being designed for kids in kindergarten – 8th grade.
They are open to adapt their offerings to match the schedule and be more involved in the community.
Thoughts were also discussed to help them and the effort of building a relationship including:
- Getting them to be more present or show a presence around our kids at the KVJSA games.
- Getting the KVJSA kids to come out and maybe have a KVJSA day at one of their games.
- Also they could potentially rotate through the different yak a tak teams and help or show up at practices.
- They were encouraged by the board members to run the camp anyway with a slight variation.
- It was determined that they would do a Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the Alder Field Complex.
- Limit of 7 kids per staff member.
- Trainer will be onsite.
Treasurers Report
Trish explained that one team paid their registration fees for the fall, which was $1835.
Statements for both January and February were presented since the Treasurer was absent from the last meeting.
An insurance form was filled out and Trish was notified that the numbers of people that they were insuring was incorrect (200 kids and 100 adults). Insurance was $3498 for liability for the rec kids. This was paid during January. Jeff will be contacted by Careyto determine which and how much of the insurance fees are needed since fees also go to US Club.
There was an additional $570 was collected from the indoor tournament. After expenses for porta potty . . . net was limited.
There were ref fees for the tournament that the U19’s were in. They haven’t been charged yet. Only one game was played in Ellensburg.
February fees were paid to support the U19 team playing.
The UK camp will be July 7-11.
Ref clinic is being held on March 30 in Ellensburg but Tim has stated that it might be moved. The registration is through Washington State Soccer Association although there is a link on KVJSA site.
A competitive meeting will be held on next Tuesday and a time and location will be sent out by Mitch.
Indoor scheduling faced a bit of a challenge however, President Carey was able to work with the city and solve the challenge. The policy that we had put in place was not followed butonce it waspointed out to the City, a solution was found.
It appears that the city maywant to change the time allotment for next year so that they can schedule the indoor field for non-KVJSA teams. This will be a future challenge that will be tackled next year.
Discussion items
Spring pick up games 1
- 16 kids have registered for the. It was suggested that a reminder be sent as the time gets closer. It is currently scheduled to start the 4h of April. It will continue for 7 days.
- It will be posted on
- 1:30-3:00 on early release days
- 3:30-5:00 on normal release days
Yak a Tak news
- It appears that there will be fewer teams than usual but there has traditionally been more that add last minute.
- There is a challenge with how we register kids since they are not allowed to have more than one number. Haley is going to talk to Sally to determine how to handle this. A hypothetical statement was made relative to a team signing up with kids who didn’t play recreation or competitive and how that would be handled.
Ref Training
- Jen has requested that the ref training include a separation by experience level. A greater effort should be made to grow the kids who have experience by having them actually ref a game or two and have trainers observing them.
Yard signs
- Chris has created a few options and sought input. His next step is to get a sample for us to look at and see if any local companies can offer competitive prices.
WebPage
- Sponsor lists on webpage haven’t been updated. Trish is on it.
- Addition of team pages is a challenge and Tessa is concerned about those who don’t want to sign releases for pictures. Need the notes for December and February.
Meeting was adjourned.
