Falling on Your Face

By Carly Cashen

On January 20th and January 21st 2011, the Super Sonic Sixes went up to Eaglecrest to ski and snowboard. In the beginning of the day you had to take a lesson. The ski boots felt weird because they were so stiff; it made you waddle like a penguin. I watched so many people do face plants and fall. The chair lift kept stopping which made us freak out. At the end of the day, everyone had fun.

Ms. Gifford, The World Traveler

By Keegan Branum

Ms. Gifford was born in 1978, in Michigan. She attended Linfield University in Oregon. In middle school she had to do, a project on teaching and since then she’s wanted to be a teacher because she loves to help people learn and because she liked her middle school teachers.

Later she moved to Juneau and she’s been here for 8 years. Four years later, she began working for Floyd Dryden. She states, ”I love working for Floyd Dryden because the students are enthusiastic and I get a lot of staff support”.

This year she visited one of her favorite continents-Antarctica. She also traveled to Chile and Argentina. Ms. Gifford’s favorite class to teach is history because she likes the subject. She has to teach 74 students every day. She likes all of her classes because they are all filled with excitement and questions.

Mr.Malaby is one of Floyd Dryden's guidance counselors. He has worked at Floyd Dryden for 28 years. Impressive! According to Mr.Malaby, the student behavior at Floyd Dryden has pretty much stayed the same over the years.

What about drugs some may ask? Mr. Malaby describes it as mostly being under ground or hidden. When asked how we can stop bullying, Mr Malaby replied, "if the target knows his/her options and knows who to go to, it can be a solution for us all."

Dryden Weekenders

By Montana Earl

On at least one Friday each month, Dryden has weekenders. You’re probably thinking, “What the heck is a weekender?” Weekenders are after school activities where you can hang out with your friends and play fun games. To play the games you must have tickets. Tickets? Yes, tickets! Tickets are just like carnival tickets you and you can buy them at the weekender.

In the commons, they have some fun games, but that’s not all. There’s more! There’s also FOOD!!!!!! There is the best thing in the world like pizza, soda, cookies, and more. Just come to the next weekender and you’ll find out.
